So tried to rebuild a aerotank coil..bad idea and my vtc5 got extremly hot and its starting to cool down. Should i keep on using the battery or throw it away? By using it on an rda and not the rebuilt aerotank coil. Causs i believe i messed up very badly on the coil
Toss it and buy a couple of new ones. If it's gone through a heat, then it may have swelled and/or degraded. $10 for a battery is good insurance. And, don't even think about installing a coil until you have the equipment and knowledge to test it and make sure it's not going to cause a short circuit. You might want to buy a regulated mod with internal protection against shorts or a fuse for your mech. We all make mistakes from time to time and need built in protection for our own safety.
I've been vaping for almost 4 1/2 years. The other day I wound a coil for my Kayfun and tested it on the ohmmeter. When I put it on my Provari and pressed the fire button I got a shorted atomizer code E1. What I found was a coil lead protruding from a screw and contacting the chimney. There's only about 1/2mm of space there. I didn't have my nail clipper handy when it was time to cut the excess wire and I grabbed the scissors to do that. I didn't cut close enough. Lesson learned for me.
To give your mech mod the same protection, buy a Vape-Safe fuse and install it. It clips magnetically to the negative pole of your battery and trips if there's a high current draw when you press the fire button. it's resettable.

And, a 510 ohmmeter to check your coil before installing. It also doubles as a 3rd hand base to support your coil deck while installing the coil.
