My VTR has developed weak threads. Most tanks just drop right in and out, a few of the same model even screw in fine. But basically the threads are worn away.

I emailed itaste and they are offering to repair it. But it seems like something I could do. First I'm afraid they will say it was my fault and charge me more than I paid (got a great deal on it), second I hate to part with it that long.

Problem is they won't give you a parts diagram or even sell you parts.

Has anyone run into this issue and found a place that sells a part that would work?

If you can get an evod or miniprotank base or two, you can use that to mod yourself a new floating pin interface that screws onto the eGo threads of the vtr; I've used aluminum rivets to make a center pin; plumbing washers for springyness and insulation; parts from protank ciols to fit them all together.

The common 510male-to-510/eGo adapter threads into the top of an evod base.
Stacking multiple bases helps form the housing for the modded centerpin.

Get a 510 airflow controller and attach it to the VTR. Leave it in place, screw your tanks into the airflow controller's 510.

Those are the worse ones they loterally have no bite into the thread, pop in/ou.

I could buy thread repair epoxy.

But instead I'm just going to buy a 2nd VTR and then send this one in to their repair center.

I have to have a VTR because I can carry it in my back pocket at work without breaking the aerotanks.

Looking for hard pocket cases for mods so I'm not stuck to VTR's.

The whole point of the VTR I think is the clearomizer protection against breakage.

Before I even used mine I got a Smoktech 510 Tank Airflow Controller and installed it and tanks screw into it. Heard of the problem of threads not lasting and wanted to avoid that. Maybe pick up a couple for your new one and one you send away. Tank sits maybe 1/2 inch higher with it installed. CHEERS!

The problem with that I'm trying to explain is twofold

1. The threads are way past that, the airflow controller bases have no bite at all, so not an option now.
2. They make the clearomizer stick up higher leaving it exposed, the major design feature of the vtr is it protects the clearomizers from breaking by holding them low and not sticking up like every other mod on the market.

For most cylindrical mods it amazes me that there aren't a hundred different hard cases on the marketthat hold the whole thing put together with a glass tank and all. I still haven't figured out how people carry them around while working or doing much of anything.

If it weren't for the FDA I think I'd start a company making nothing but compact portable on-the-go hard cases out of injection molded plastic. You can setup deals with China companies to injection mold about anything no-days, its an easy gold mine/whole in the market for working people.

But that's permanent right, so I would always have a tank sticking up an extra 3/4 of an inch. Defeats the purpose of the VTR design in the way it protects the clearomizer.

I found another on ebay when it gets here I'm sending my bad one to them for repair. Ashame they don't trust us with a diagram and selling the part.

Where's a good place to get these from? I checked a few places, but not sure who is reputable...
