Okay fellow (and more experienced) vapers I need some advice. I'm going to get my first box mod and am stuck between the VV gripper, and the Vmod (either 2.0 or XL). I have researched both to the point i could almost quote some of the reviews. For starters I currently us a 1000mah egc-c twist with a mini vivi. I love the VV and would like to stick with it, but if I dont get the gripper I'll still have the twist.

Pros and con of what I've heard..

VV Gripper.
pros
1 digital screen with plenty of read outs
2 finger groves
3 use of tanks and clearos
4 blue and white screen looks nice
5 good reviews
cons
1 not very sturdy (reviews say one good drop , I'm kinda clumsy, and I'll be spitting nails)
2 tanks and clearos have a tendency to wobble

Vmod
pros
1 mechanical design
2 bottom feeder (I'll have to learn how to master it, but its new to me so I'm excited)
3 If you haven't seen the video vapage did, they run it over with a trunk. It's not 60mph on I4, but ran over never the less
4 loos more pocket friendly.
5 Reports to not leak
cons
1 It's not VV
2 The learning cure has potential to suck

For the price and what each has to offer I think they are both a good choice. I just can seem to set my heart on one and can't afford both. This is where I need some words of wisdom. I love vv, but have heard that bottom feeders are the next best thing to dripping w/o carrying extra stuff all the time.

What are your guys opions? Why would you choose on over the other? Also if anyone owns both, I'd really like to hear what you think. Good, bad, and ugly welcome.

Thanks

Well I can tell you I had the Vmod XL for a few months and just sold it recently. Its a good device, but I found that the 3.7v was kinda limiting to what I could use with it. I have senn some people have "kicked" theirs, but then youre talking another $45.00 for it. I sold it recently because it wasnt getting much use. I just purchased the VV gripper today from cigtechs for $35 (one day sale), so I will let you know what I think. Knowing my vaping habits Im going to really enjoy it. I also have a Vmax that use the same technology as the gripper, and its my go-to all day mod. I have an SB, LT, Ovale V8 etc etc as well.

I have a gripper and so far it has been great, nice size and one 2000mah aw 18650 gets me through the work day. although agree a hard drop onto concrete or similar would probably crack the housing.
It wont hit as hard as a vmax, i find around 4.3v on the gripper feels similar to a vmax at 3.8v. I paid about $50 for mine and feel it was a good buy. The up and down voltage buttons arnt positioned the best, a few times ive accidently changed the voltage mid vape, but once you are aware of it then its easy to avoid doing. I doubt you would be dissapointed. Especially if you can get it for less than $50.

Here's another thing to consider: What voltage level are you usually using the twist? If you are only using ranges above 4.2 -- go vari. If not, you may be surprised how nice a 3.7 volt device is.

I like having a mechanical mod in my arsenal--especially one so pocket/purse friendly.

I have an assortment of mods -- and use my 3.7's as much and often more than my VV and VW. YMMV

I had originally been using eGo-T batteries with eGo mega dual coil 1.5 ohm cartomizers and had gone back to analogs. One of the reasons for going back was this combination was producing vapor that was too hot and I would often burn the back of my throat. A few weeks back Vapage had a 50% off sale so I went ahead and ordered a vmod 2.0 kit. Since that time, I've gone back to vaping. The combination of vmod 2.0 w/ 2.0 ohm vapage atomizers works for me and I'm very happy with it, so much so that I've significantly cut back to my analog consumption to 2 a day.

Getting the hang of using the bottom feed mechanism on the vmod doesn't take long at all. After a few hours of use I'd gotten the hang of it and never get dry hits any more. The allure of the bottom feed mod was not having to constantly drip (my friend has a provari). In this respect, the vmod has done exactly that. The flavor using an atomizer beats a cartomizer. With the mega dual coil cartomizers I could go an entire day without refilling, but the taste wassn't even close to the vmod/atomizer combo.

Also, variable voltage isn't an issue for me and I don't vape heavily enough that a 14500 battery will not last me all day. I'm a smaller guy (5'6") so I also wanted something that would fit in my pocket and the vmod 2.0 is a great fit in my hand. Also, the vmod has not yet once leaked.

If you don't really need variable voltage, I would highly suggest trying out the vmod xl/2.0.
