I've had a box of clear SmokTech dual coil cartos (1.5Ω) sitting on my self for a long time now.

I'm not a fan of dual coil cartos. I think they're unsafe on most devices and don't perform well on unregulated devices with 3.7 volt IMR batteries. I think they need VV to fine tune the two coils to a satisfactory vape.

Well, now that I have a shiny new VV Grand in my grubby little hands, and I know the notcigs chip will effectively and safely power these cartos and good old reliable juice feeding from a Reo will keep them sufficiently wet, I decided to put one in service and see how it goes.

4.5 volts under load is working pretty well. It's not as good as an atomizer, but I'm getting decent flavor and tons of warm vapor. I'll go ahead and run with this carto till I can't stand it and report back.

Why Mr. O'Neil, whatever do you mean? I'm just trying to help out a fellow vaper with a cartomizer experiment. :pervy:

Day 2: Lot's of warm, chewy, vapor. Somewhat muted flavor, though. Must purchase some quality SR atomizers soon.

SRs are really great with VV or VW. I've been more than happy with my SR Joye 510s.

Day 3 with the 1.5Ω clear dual coil carto:

Flavor and vapor production both started to suck. I'm guessing I've vaped around 8 to 10 mLs thru this carto before I took it off and disassembled it. The cloth diapers that were wrapped around the coils were both singed and blackened well enough that I won't reuse them. The batting material rinsed clean with no obvious signs of scorching, but I suspect it had become saturated with vapor that had condensed into water, which diluted my e-liquid. Three quick dry burns on the disassembled carto got the coils clean of buildup. If I can MacGuyver a suitable replacement material to rewrap the coils, I suspect I could reuse the cleaned batting material and tube and use this carto some more. Or I could toss it and start a new one.

I opted to use a 3.3Ω 510 atomizer at 5.3 volts. The carto was novel and kind of fun for a while, but I like a good atomizer better.

Thank you for the update!

I ended up getting some DIY stuff yesterday and so far am on hour 20 of a new carto (2.1ohm boge) running at around 4.25v unloaded.

I must say so far so good. The carto is performing just like new. Just a very slight amount of darkening to the juice in the filler.

So I think we found the issue that I was having. That's so upsetting too as I have about 6oz left of the TV juice :(

Well we have hit 28 hours with the same carto and new DIY juice and we still get the good old snap, crackle, and pop as when I first filled the carto.

am not a carto user, but i've also noticed burnt liquid in my vv bottle, witch comes out the atty and goes back in the bottle during the night. for now i have decided to blow my atty out every day to prevent brown goo building up and spoil my juice in the bottle. in the past when i was using clearo's i noticed that VG juices tent to burn faster then PG, so hope you don't mind me asking what the PG/VG content is in your liquids?

The TastyVapor juices were 70pg/30vg. My DIY is 60Pg/25vg/15flavourings

hmm, thats not it then i think, i vape 90% VG or maybe even more, i don't have it on my mini and don't think on my grand too (have the grand for only a day) my atty's on the vv gets very hot compared to the mini/grand they only get pretty warm. so i think i burn my juice a bit on the vv :)

Perhaps you are running it a tad too hot

I use cartos almost exclusively and never get much more then a few days out of 1 till I'm ready for a freshy the VV is no exception and no different for me. I use only Boge cartos 2.0 & 3.0ohm I never prefill and never over juice because when I over juiced in the past they would get tight quick Just my :2c:
