I dont think it really matters Gil.The only hard part about metal mods is dealing with blue prints and machine shops tumblers anodizers .Wood mods are made 100% in house if I make a mistake I can fix it if I make a mistake on a metal mod print it can be very costly .

Well if the machine shop screws up there enough REOnauts that will see its fixed and fast!

I think what Rob is saying is if the (blue) print Rob gives the machine shop is not right then CNC machines can churn out a lot of "not right" (scrap) parts in a very short time which Rob would then be responsible for the cost of material and labor to the point where the mistake was found and production stopped.

That's why some part buyers order the machine shop to make and send them a First Article for a dimensional inspection test and a fit, form, function evaluation. Then the shop has a choice to either let the machine sit idle and wait for approval or tear down the set-up on the machine to make a different part for a different customer and then after approval set-up the machine again for Robs part, if there is a machine available. Some machine set-ups may take many hours of labor depending on the complexity of the part.

That's why First Articles cause time delays and can be expensive. It's a dilemma for both parties. Rob wants it done right the first time without expensive mistakes and a conscientious machine shop doesn't like making scrap parts even if their paid for them or having a machine(s) sit idle. But that's why prints have revision levels on them ... mistakes happen.

A new product always takes time to get out the door. It can't be rushed because rushing causes mistakes.

Hello Dave :)

I'm so f-ing excited about these. Both the woods and also the metals.

Rob, is that going to be the button you use?
Yes
