The ProVari doesn't have a function to set the wattage. When you change the voltage, the wattage changes, but you can't set the wattage separately.

What you set your volts at is technically based on the resistance of the device you screw onto it, but it really comes down to taste. Charts and math give you a rough starting point, then you increase or decrease the voltage until it tastes good to you.

On the fly, I take the resistance of the topper, for example 2Ω and add "2", which equals 4. If I set the the device at 4v it will produce 8 watts. That calculation is true for any resistance. Resistance + 2 = X, the device set to X volts will produce ≈ 8 watts.

8 watts is a little warmer than I like, so I dial it down a bit, then up or down to taste.

It doesn't really matter which you choose, in the end they do the same thing.
The only difference is vw will stay at the same wattage when you change to different resistance devices.

I've tried both and there's no real difference. I end up changing the power to suit different juices anyway, so to me its the same thing

I don't use dozens of different delivery systems and the ones I do all have roughly the same resistance.
Power is power I wouldn't buy any device solely based on if its vv or vw whatever you choose will work.

Your juice really doesn't care which mathematical formula you use to get to the proper power setting. So it's simply a matter of which is easiest for you to wrap your head around.
For me ohms law is so basic that I can do the same thing with just a battery and a resister. So VV or VW is simply for convenience, and both offer the same choices.

Having a device that remembers your preferred wattage setting is nice if you find yourself swapping tanks, cartomizers, etc. of different resistances on the fly and having your device adjust voltage accordingly automatically. If that is not important to you, and you don't mind adjusting voltage with each device change, then VW is probably meaningless to you.

I like the VW features of my eVic. Particularly the presets you get in it. The display that shows Ohmage, Volts and Amps all at the same time as the battery life is spectacular. I like the controls and the menu layout.

The device cannot match the accurate and consistent delivery of the ProVari (nor could my Vamo). The lower the power in the battery of the eVic, the less accurate both of my eVic control heads become. They are spot on delivering 4 volts with a battery freshly charged. When I ask for 4.5 volts from a battery with less than 50% power remaining, it is just not an accurate device.

The eVic has some great features, I look forward to the improvements we will continue to see from Joyetech. It is the best of the VW devices I have used.

VW in principle does have advantages to many users. I just don't see the current group of devices as accurate and consistent enough to capitalize on those advantages.
