Waiting on download????

I set up a slot for the GPU on my laptop, GeForce 9600. It's been in waiting for download status all night, has made several attempts, and nothing. Desktop is running fine, and the SMP slot on the laptop is fine. Anyone know where the issue might be?

There may just not be any wu's available for some older GPU's like your 9600. I'm not up to par with Nvidia's list but I have seen this happen with older ATI GPU's (4xxx and lower). Or it could just be that the specific work server is down.

A google search found Folding Forum • View topic - Geforce Not Folding [Was: FAH Client 7.2.9 Not Folding] where Google Chrome (browser) was disabling the GPU. Can you check the log during client start-up and see any indication of 'gpu not found' or similar?

b_1620's comment about ATI 4xxx cards--I have a 4550 card, and there are no work units for this (and haven't been for 6 months).

I've been seeing a lot of this on various machines, mostly the ones still running version 6. I suspect a server or two are not well. If you give them long enough they'll get a unit eventually. Maybe.

According to Folding@home - WinGPUGuide , that server ran out of Fahcore_11 (GPU2) work units in June, 2012. Your card may be supported by GPU3. Mine isn't , and I saw that message for several days before I gave up with the GPU for now.
