sweet....trying to figure why some i have for mp3 players don't fair so well.
is there a cig lighter adapter that's 1000mA ? the ones i've seen are only 500mA

vince.cadc a pc's USB port puts out about 1.34A. Maddog has measured it
while using a passthrough.

Perhaps some are different. It was my understanding that most only put out a small amount until it received a request from the USB device for more power and ecigs can't ask for more power, I could be wrong on this. I did read about the USB3 being higher power, mine is kind of old, usb2.

Just be sure to use the 5v 1amp (1000ma) for best performance. Your computer is max 500ma. Atomizers work best at 1amp.

Not arguing, Vince...but where did you get your information on (a) "computer is max 500ma" and (b) "Atomizers work best at 1 amp"

I'd like to get the correct information, thank you. I've not seen specific
information on the normal power requirements for the atomizers.

Instead of a USB passthrough, how about just a regular passthrough that plugs into the wall? That way you don't need to be at your computer, you could also use it just sitting on your couch watching TV
I made My own plug in. One 4.5 700mah transformer one des901 end pvc or copper tubing for a body and wire it up. Real easy!:D

Search for 'USB2 specification' or 'USB2 output' - the 500ma is part of the specification.

As far as adapters go you don't have to worry about providing to much current (i.e. amperage). The current draw is determined by the demands of what you are using (i.e. the cigarette). If your cig needs 1 amp, it will only draw one amp. The rating on these chargers just show what they are capable of producing. Just make sure the voltage isn't too high and the amperage rating meets or exceeds the demands of your cig.
