Wanna get back into vaping

Hello. New user here. About 6 months ago, I started to get into vaping. I was so excited and cut down to less than a pack a day of analogs. Then the news came out that e-cigs are worse for you than analogs an account of the "mystery chemicals" esp in the China produced ones. Well, just my luck, I had ordered about $300 worth of product a couple days before the news broke. I haven't touched an ecig since then.

I was wondering if it would be safe to maybe order some liquid from Canada. I really wanna get started back up again but just don't feel comfortable when one of the ingredients is "other substances." I wouldn't mind spending a little more, but would like to be sure I'm not wasting my time with something unhealthier than analogs. Are there any companies that gurantee no funny business in the liquids? Thanks in advance.

Seriously??

There's nothing in e-liquids that is even remotely close to how dangerous tobacco cigarettes are!

The e-cig was invented by a Chinese man and most of the equipment and liquid comes from China - and it has from the beginning. I really wouldn't worry about it unless the juice manufacturers decide to add ~4,000 extra chemicals and carcinogens to a simple liquid that contains only a few ingredients that have been used for many years without a problem. Why would they bother to do that?

There are US and UK suppliers of e-juice, though they may be working with a Chinese base liquid. Check out the forum vendors.

Welcome, and I think they went a little overboard with their study. But to be sure I try to use non china e-liquids but propylene glycol I believe is what your referring to is in many of the foods you eat today. However it is just my opinion, and I'm a health freak. The cigarettes have o whole lot more chemicals to be concerned about than e-liquid, they have a health warning right on the package. Good luck with your descision.

Thanks for the responses. I guess my main concern is the Diethylene glycol. Also, they found a bunch of other stuff that's already in analogs. I guess I just wanna be 99% sure I'm using a company that doesn't have the Diethylene glycol in the liquid. (You can never be 100% unless you take it to the lab). Sorry, I just have a cautious personality and wanna make sure I'm giving myself the greatest chance of receiving a non-toxic product.

Here's a link citing the study that made me concerned. shanghaiist.com/2009/07/23/electronic_cigarettes_not_a_healthy_1.php

Hey stndardbutler, I just wanted to say welcome back and I hope the best for you in your vaping reventure. There are great companys around here and wonderful reviews of them so take your time and look around and ask as many questions as you want. Everyone here is friendly and will help you out. I will tell ya that I just got a Janty eGo kit and the Totally Wicked Tornado kit (both are exactly the same by the way) and they are the best PV's I've had to date! Also, check out Halo's Juice. You can search for them on these forums, there have been great reviews of them. I'm waiting on my order to arrive from them and can't wait to try it out. Best of luck to you and keep us posted :)

In my opinion the FDA testing you are talking about proved how safe electronic cigarettes really are.

It is truly unfortunate for smokers everywhere that they chose to portray those results in the most negative light they could come up with. And even more unfortunate is the way all of the news media simply parroted exactly what the FDA was feeding them.

The FDA study found a few nitrosamines, which are also found in smoking cessation products in approximately the same concentrations. Those nitrosamines come from the tobacco during the nicotine extraction process, and they are present in cigarettes in concentrations about 1500 times greater.

The FDA study also found approximately 1% DEG in one of the 18 cartridges tested. That could have been a contaminant in the propylene glycol, and the FDA allows 0.1% DEG in products that contain propylene glycol. However, I believe it has been calculated here that for the amount of DEG found in that one cartridge, you would have to vape somewhere on the order of thousands of cartridges per day to get a lethal does.

You may already know all that, but I just wanted to make sure.

Are you back to smoking cigarettes?

I read the FDA report... and I have seen the news reports... and all if it is a bunch of sensationalized junk in my opinion. The ingredients in e-liquids are very simple as others have said. PG, VG, nicotine, water, and flavoring. Some have a tiny bit of alcohol. That's it.

Yes... one of those things might have something bad in it in a minuscule amount. Nicotine patches and nicotine gum both have some of the bad stuff in them that the FDA reported they found in a sample of e-liquid. Cigarettes have bunches more of it!

If you want to, you can certainly buy your liquid from a US supplier that uses only USP grade ingredients. They are out there. Plenty of them.

Personally, I believe that there is no way in heck that e-liquid could be anywhere nearly as horrible for me than cigarettes were!!! I have been vaping for three months now and I can't remember when I felt this good! I can breathe again!

I hope you find a supply for e-liquid that you consider safer than cigarettes.

Good luck!

:)
