I'm in the minority nowdays it seems as a penstyle BE112 user

Cartowhat?
Seriously though my general advice when it comes to making vaping work.
Have plenty of supplies on hand. These aren't like cigarettes where if you run out you can just pop out to the local corner store and pick up a pack. For the most part unless you are very lucky you will have to order everything from online and it's going to take a few days (or a couple weeks depending on customs) for it to get to you.
So get plenty of atomizers (I usually order 5-10 at a time from Bestegic) Juice is a little harder at first it's going to take some experimentation to find out what you like. Personally I'm lucky that my favorite juice is available in bulk from BestEcig (I usually buy 200ml at a time but they also have 500ml bottles) one option is to just order a big 200ml bottle of 24mg flavorless so you have solid supply to work with while you experiment with some other flavors. Oh and you'll definitely want to order your liquid to refil carts yourself. The pre-filled just don't last long enough to be cost effective.
Now personally I do not recommend things with proprietary batteries. There are two things that tend to wear out on ecigs and those are atomizers and batteries so having to spend 20 bucks for a new battery every time you wear one out can get quite pricey.
As such I like the screwdriver style smokes.
Personally I use a Prodigy from PureSmoker just switched to a V3.1 after using my V1 for a year and a half oh and the V1 still works it's just that the switches on it wore out over time and while PS has a good warranty program where I can send them in to be repaired for a couple bucks I decided that it'd be easier just to by the new model which had the advantage of a year and a half of refining to get past the minor bugs in the V1 device.
Personally I'd suggest either the Prodigy or possibly the ICON (basically a smaller 3.7v only version of the Prodigy) they are bigger than the cigarette like stuff but use relatively cheap easily replaced batteries.
Definitely stick to manual switched devices. airflow switches will always clog.
I suggest having at least 2 chargers one for home and one for the workplace that way you can have batteries on charge all the time. You'll also want several sets of batteries Personally I think 4 sets is about optimal 3 doable but 2 not quite there. Just kind of rotate through them so you aren't using one set much more that then others.
It wouldn't hurt to have a back up device either though with the Prodigy you can just get some spare parts (switch, adapter, springs) so if one part fails you just replace it, ship the defective part back to PS and continue on about your merry vaping business. This is what I did with my Prodigy V1 I pretty much had a couple spare adapters and several switches that I'd use to keep it going.
So to reiterate have plenty of supplies on hand at all times and that will help you not fall off the wagon.
As to specific use. It seems a lot has changed since I was particularly active around here. Cartomizers and tanks and various alternatives to the cartridge with batting and a separate atomizer were pretty much at concept stage so I'm not super familiar with them. I found what works well for me and just ran with it.
Personally I like simplicity in this sort of thing. The more complexity the greater the likely hood of failure. As such I drip with a cart to keep the atomizer from getting dry.
The final thing I'll say is this. You gotta want to make this work. Several other guys at my work tried this around the same time I did. Of the dozen or so who tried ecigs around the time I did I'm the only one who actually stuck it out.
Now the benefits are wonderful.
It's cheaper in the long run that smoking. I spend maybe 100 bucks every couple months for juice and atomizers so maybe 50 a month which is way cheaper than smoking at current prices.
I no longer smell like an ashtray. The first time I went to a bar after I'd been vaping a bit I walked outside and smelled the smoke on me and asked my wife if this is how I used to smell then apologized profusely for putting her through that after she said yes.
Good luck
P.S I know the smokes I recommended are on the higher end of the pricing but I feel it would save you more money in the long run thanks to their cheaper maintenance costs, Something like that is what you will probably end up with in the end anyway so why waste money on crap that ain't going to quite do the job in the first place.
Plus the more you are invested up front the greater the impetus to stick it out.
