Hello everyone,

I am a heavy smoker and go easy over a pack of Marlboro reds a day. Now I think is the time to give the e-cig a try, however, there are so many questions arising the more research I make. If someone would be able to help me find answers to the questions below that would be just amazing.

1. Which e-cig to choose? There are millions and I want a reliable unit that always works, gives me the real taste (Marlboro reds), and is easy to use.

2. I don't fully understand how it works even though I saw tons of videos and graphics. You have the battery and cartridges correct? And I throw the cartridges away when they are empty and buy new once?

3. If you have the cartridges what do you need this juice for? Where to you put the nicotine juice in?

4. If I smoke a pack +5 cigs a day what do I need to have to go easy through a whole day without worrying to run out?

5. being a Marlboro red smoker what would be best 18 or 24? and how to you change the doses?

6. If someone is able to answer question #1 then what flavor would be the marlboro red flavor?

Hope someone will be able to help me out here. My lungs start to sound like a 80 year old and I am just 26. I smoke since I am 14 and I just don't want to smell like a ashtray anymore.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm not the best at suggesting a particular item because I have seen people progress to something other than what they started with. I honestly feel that just getting a kit and coming here to talk about it is the best key for success. This way you can find out what you like/dislike about what you have, and all the parts will make more sense once you have something to use.

That being said, I would probably recommend a cheap, quality Riva Lite Bundle from Liberty Flights. (Click the 20% off button at the top.) It will get you started, has plenty of battery life, and will help get you up to speed with all of the questions you'll have. There, however, will not be anything that tastes like a cigarette, sorry . . . but vaping does taste a lot better! Don't forget to get some juice too - get plenty of different flavors to get a good start.

Welcome....check the sticky threads; there's a bunch of videos there that will answer most of your questions.

Videos Here

I was a 2 pack/day Marlboro Red smoker for 37 years and haven't had a cigarette for 7 months and counting. It took 24mg+ for me to kick tobacco. To answer your next question about Marlboro Red flavor....there isn't one. There are a number of vendors who try to approximate the flavor but it's impossible to flavor match a cigarette

1. Liberty Flights Riva would be a great start
2. You refill the cartomizers or cartridges with juice until they start tasting bad then throw away
3. You refill your cartomizer with the juice. Cheaper than buying prefilled
4. I would start with at least 24 mg juice and pick up several flavors of juice in order to find what you like. Average vaper goes through about 3 ml of juice a day
5. You change the strength by changing juice and cartridge. I started at 36 mgs and am now at 24 mg. I tried 18 mg and it was too low
6. That is the milion dollar question. You will not find an exact match but will find one that you like. Try buying several small bottles of juice to try.

Hope that helped.
PS I know how overwhelming this can all be. You will find lots of help here so hang in there.

Hi and congrats on the great decision to get off the smokes..I have been vaping for about four months and I love it and I think once you get the hang of it you will to..ok
I think that if your pv doesn't need to look like a civ than I would go with a ego because a fully charged battery will last all day and more. Cartomizers are the way to go they last longer than the cartridges and you don't need to top off as much,I buy the boge LR 510's at IVape.net I fill About 5 and I'm good go all day..I'm not a fan of prefilled flavors..now the juice ....I smoked reds and then Marlboro lights forever and you really aren't going to get the exact flavor but in my opinion Halo eliquid is the best of the best I use torque56 and Freedom in 24 mg ..every now and then I will use some USA mix from Nhaler.com it tastes like reds smell when you open a new pack .
Hope this long winded story helps best of luck to you.

You won't get the same flavor as a cigarette, but you can probably find something you like better. There are a lot of tobacco flavors out there, but most tobacco flavors compare to the smell of a new pack of cigarettes, rather than the burned vegetation taste you get with a cigarette. You have been given some great advise, try small 5ml bottles of several different flavors and see which ones you like and don't like. As far as which e-cig to get, if you want it to look close to a real cigarette, then a 510 set from most vendors will fit that bill, if you want something that will give you better battery life, then an ego system might be better. If you don't want to refill cartridges all the time, and want long battery life, a Go-Go might work for you. I don't think you could go wrong with any of those.

Thanks for all the nice helpful tips.

If I smoke a pack +5 cigs a day how long will one bottle of this magic juice last me? Also...

If I buy one of these Liberty Flights Riva is that a product to keep or is there like a upgrade after a certain time period?

Also how do I know how much juice I filled in to the cartridges?

I am really sorry for all these seemingly stupid questions but I just don't know much about these e-cigs and really try to spend money wisely. I don't want to end up spending $200 here and $200 there.

If I buy me a Liberty Flights Riva what would you guys suggest me to buy cartridges wise and batteries? In other words how much of each do you think is best to buy? 1 battery 2 3 4? how many cartridges 5?10?20?50? how many bottles of juice?

Once again thanks for all the help I am really thankful to receive so many answers in 10 mins after making research for 5 hours with lil questions answered.

Some people stick with this type of model, some (like me) go to a different device. There are many choices out there that won't make a lot of sense to a newer person. You could spend hundreds of hours of research to find the perfect device for you, but chances are that all of the research will change once you actually try something.

That's why I suggest that Riva. It's a quality device that doesn't cost a lot. You will probably spend about as much as a carton of cigarettes all total with juice. It will do well enough to at least cut the amount you smoke, but the most important part is that the answers you get to your questions will make a lot more sense when you have something to apply it to.

Those hours of research answered in a couple minutes of discussion is the same way you will have more understanding by just having a device. Heck, 7-Elevens even have different kits in a lot of places. They aren't the best, but they will help you to understand. Sorry, but that's just my best advice. Get something and keep coming back with questions. They'll get answered quickly. :)

1. How much juice you use will depend on how heavily you vape. I was a 1 PAD- 2 PAD smoker and used 2 ml of 24 mg nicotine e-juice per day. 6 months later, I use 1 ml of 0 nicotine juice. Some people here use 5 ml of juice per day. To be safe, assume 3 ml of juice usage per day or 90 ml of juice per month. You can purchase juice in many different combinations of sizes and nicotine strengths. I liked vaperite.com when I first started because I could buy so many different sample packs and their tobacco flavors are really good.

2. I have a Liberty Flights Riva 510 bundle. Bought it in November, use it every day, and it's still going strong. Great product, great company, great price. I highly recommend it. I did buy a back up Riva510 bundle so I would always have extra batteries, atomizers, and charger, but I've been lucky enough to not have any issues or problems with my hardware.

3. A cartridge holds about 20 drops or 1 ml of juice for the Riva510. (20 drops = 1 ml, approximately. )This lasts me all day, but other people refill theirs twice or three times per day.

4. Were it me, I would purchase 2 Liberty Flights Lite bundles, and then go to VapeRite.com and purchase a combination of their sampler packs plus 3-5 bottles of e-juice in an 18 ml size. I would probably get a few in high mg dosages of nicotine and a few in low mg dosages of nicotine.

All of this should cost you around $100, if you buy it the way I wished I would have when I first started.

Good luck!:D

If you are ordering from LF, my suggestion would be to order some flavors from them also. Maybe buy 6-10 of their 5ml flavors to figure out what tastes good to you. And if you like 1 or two of those, then order a 30 ml bottle of those. Many have suggested 24 mg nicotine. That is high for me but not for many. I would suggest you order a couple of 18 mg so you can hyper-vape if needed without getting nic overload. I would order at least 10 cartomizers to go with your order. You can refill them until they don't taste good anymore. Keep in mind that there will be juices that you just don't like. That is just part of the process. If you get a Riva kit, it will come with two batteries. That will get you started. Eventually, you will want extra batteries to have as a backup.

Best wishes!

ok great. Thanks a lot for the great help everyone. I will keep you guys updated on what unit I purchased and how everything worked out in the end. You guys are great thanks a lot.

If you do decide to go with the Riva510, here's an awesome video showing how to set the thing up. Answered all of my questions when I first started out. Only thing I would note, You don't need to worry about fluval as the Riva510 cartridges come prefilled with polyfill. Do everything else this lady says, though, and you'll be good to go.

A standard Joye 510 cart holds about 0.5ml of liquid.

That could be, all I've ever filled is the stock Riva510 cartridges, which take 20 drops when they are clean and fresh. When topping off after their first fill or between cleanings, .5 sounds about right for the stock Riva510. I tend to clean mine every day, so every morning I fill with 20 drops.

Having said that, I know each company has dropper bottles that dispense a bit differently, and I have not used a syringe to measure juice. That's way too much work. ;)

30ml may last you about 2 weeks. This is only a guess though. I am a heavy vapor but I smoked close to 4 packs a day. I wouldn't buy a big bottle until you find a juice you like. Buy several 5ml bottles of 24mg in different flavors.

If I buy one of these Liberty Flights Riva is that a product to keep or is there like a upgrade after a certain time period?

It's yours to keep unless you find that it can't deliver what you're after. Next step would be a mod. If you go with a mod, please consider a variable volt. Notcigs and provape carry some wonderful mods.

Also how do I know how much juice I filled in to the cartridges?

Only fill until it looks slushy.

I am really sorry for all these seemingly stupid questions but I just don't know much about these e-cigs and really try to spend money wisely. I don't want to end up spending $200 here and $200 there.

The kit comes with 2 complete ecigs so you should be okay on batteries. You may want to consider buying a couple more atomizers as these will eventually die. Make sure you buy the appropriate type to fit your batteries (example: 510 Riva bundle needs 510 atomizers). Get one extra pack of cartridges. The filling can be cleaned and reused. Juice, several 5ml flavors in 24mg to start with. You can always place an order for lower/higher nic. Get some different flavors that are appealing.

Once again thanks for all the help I am really thankful to receive so many answers in 10 mins after making research for 5 hours with lil questions answered.

If I were you I would right start with a well built mod. I went through the learning curve in the past 6 months (was a heavy smoker too) and spent a lot of money just to realize that the factory starting mods either lack vapor, flavor or battery capacity. Currently I use a Reo Mini and I am very satisfied with. Easy to handle, last the whole day with great flavor and smoke.

You could go straight to a well built mod, but they will cost you. I have used a lot of different devices. I knew I loved vaping, but always craved more, so I opted for the Silver Bullet from Altsmoke. The thing is indestructible and a work of art. For a beginner, I still recommend the Joye eGo. The kit will have two for e cigs and performance that comes close to any other 3.7 volt mod. I won't go into the details on mods, but the ego is a great starter kit that will not let you down. It is small enough to take out and about without sacrificing battery life. I have gone almost an entire day with a freshly charged battery. A standard 510 would need about 6 changes a day. They just don't perform very well either when they get tired. You will want to pick up a couple LR (low resistance) atomizers. LR 510 or LR 306 is a great choice. The vapor is much more abundant and warmer. The ego with a LR 306 with a drip tip may very well be the best looking, best performing device for it's size. Extended battery sizes are available, but not needed.
