im looking to spend around $60, i would like a kit type set, i smoke Marlboro lights, so that's the flavor id like to go with, im going with e cigs to stop my habit of smoking real cigs, which brand would you guys recommend for a beginner but still gives the effects of a real cig, there are so many out there i have no idea where to start, im not familiar with any of the terms that go along with e cigs so if someone would be kind enough to break itt down in plain English id appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums Blaze.

First, are there any specific features you are looking for? Does size matter to you?

As far as juice is concerned, I don't think I've ever seen anyone say they found one that tastes like a Marlboro. Some like certain tobacco flavors available and would be more help there. I don't vape any tobacco flavors, so I'm no help.

Ego spinner or twist 1000mah plus one for back-up with a charger cable, a protank, a vivi nova, a T2 or/and T3. And a couple spare heads for each.

It may cost a bit more but to find out what works best for you try a kit like this... https://www.canvape.com/product-p/ultwistkit.htm ....or this... https://www.canvape.com/product-p/innolea.htm

You'll get many responses to this question, all different, 'cause different set-ups work best for different people.
No one fits all.

Everyone starts looking for a flavour that is like what they smoked, me it was NO. 7's, never found a tobacco flavour I really liked. And thats a good thing. Tobacco stinks!

This page... ECF InfoZone - The is the E-cigarette Forum Information Zone, for all your ecig needs ...has a lot of helpful links for you.

Cheers and welcome to ECF and vaping:vapor::vapor:

Welcome to ECF and congrats on taking the first step to quit smoking

Here is my recommendation

EGO-C and Vision Clearomizer Kit - $58.00 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

good all around starter kit that some people stick with - uses the most popular battery style "ego" - has easy to deal with clearomizers (that part that holds your juice) comes with extra heads (order the 1.8 ohm - these work best with these batteries - to get you to the 7-8 watt range (best flavor range for most people))

juice is going to be extra - I would recommend 11mg strength if you are smoking Marlboro lights (pack a day? - if more than PAD then maybe 18mg - 24mg is for hardcore full nic addicts - I smoked 1.5 - 2 PAD for 36 years and got myself sick on 24mg (of course I was chain vaping also)

Here are some basic tobacco flavors

555/State Express - A nutty tobacco flavor
Blended - A rich tobacco similar to Camel
Camel - a rich tobacco flavor
DK - TAB - A tobacco flavor with a sweet side. An almost maple side flavor
Flu Cured - Tobacco that has an almost pipe flavor
Havana - cigar flavor
hilton - A spicy tobacco flavor
kent - A lighter tobacco flavor
Red energy - Tastes like an energy drink
RY1 - A tobacco flavor that seems more nutty and sweet
RY4 - Tobacco with a hint of caramel
Tobacco - A nice straight tobacco
Turkish Blend - Similar to Camel and Blended
USA Mix - The most popular tobacco flavor. Good for those who smoke the popular american brands --- some people think of this as Marlboro
Virginia - A strong straight tobacco flavor
Yunyan - A lighter tobacco flavor

(some sites will name their Marlboro juice red but be careful most are redbull flavored (yuck, pitooy, spit, gag - sorry)

if you want to start with a better battery I recommend VV

EGO-C Twist 1000MAh and clearomizer Kit - $78.00 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

the 1000 mah battery will last you longer between charges but is longer than a regular 650 mah battery

the variable voltage will let you fine tune your clearo, carto, or whatever device you choose for juice delivery for the best taste

also this site has free priority shipping on kits (or any order over $70) and is very fast with their filling and shipping orders

let us all know what you decide to go with

now im even more confused. lol which model do u find gives you the best chance at fooling your mind into thinking its a real cig. i want a nice thick vapor to come out. also, no flavors like Marlboro lights? ... is that? thats one of the most popular brands people smoke and theirs no flavor that compares? that just does not make any sense...

I've tried countless tobacco flavors (and some of them I really like) but not ONE of them is going to taste like smoking a cigarette, Marlboro or not. There are many other chemicals in tobacco cigarettes that contribute to that flavor as well as the actual burning of plant matter. This isn't really replicable in e-cigs. I think this is the biggest hurdle of people transitioning to e-cigs (getting over the fact that it doesn't taste like a cigarette).

You will find, like most others, that once you begin vaping you will find that a cigarette actually tastes quite disgusting

also, oce i purchase this e cig all im gonna have to buy in the future is flavors correct? cause if im going to have to put more money into this thing every week i might as well be smoking the real thing.

Not entirely true, and not to discourage you....

an eGo battery on average should be good for 6-12mo, at that point it will most likely fail or not hold a charge and have to be replaced. How long your clearomizers/cartomizers/tanks/etc last will depend on what type of liquid you vape and your vaping habbits. I generally get 2-3 weeks off of a coil (clearomizer), maybe longer if I clean it often and use lighter colored liquids before I replace it.

It is still cheaper than smoking cigarettes, though and can be even cheaper if you start to DIY your liquid and build your own coils, combined with buying modular devices where you can replace just the battery when it dies rather than the entire device.

Regardless, it's hard to put a price on your health. Even if it cost me 10x what it cost me to smoke vaping, I'm still healthier for doing so.

Just Blaze, one thing I might encourage you to consider is that there is a really high chance that you might find some of the other, non-tobacco flavors to be even more satisfying than a tobacco flavor. I was very much like you in that I smoked full octane Marlboro 100's and so when I went to switch over from analogs to e-cigs, I wanted pretty much the same experience/flavor that I was getting with analogs. Truth be told, I found that within a week of switching over, I really didn't care for the tobacco flavors (maybe with the exception of vaperite's Madagascar Vanilla Tobacco), but preferred some of the other flavors I never thought I'd like, such as vaperite's Purple Haze flavor (currently my all-day vape). Vaperite is my local brick and mortar store, so I reference them quite a bit, though there are other great e-juice suppliers out there as well. The nicotine content of the e-juice does a whole lot of curbing the craving from the analogs smokes and as your sense of smell improves, the tobacco flavors became more icky in my experience. Everyone is different though and you may find a tobacco flavor that you love. What was important for me was finding a brick and mortar store that had a flavor bar that I could sit down and sample the variety of flavors. As for hardware, I would recommend buying an eGo-C Twist style of battery or a Vision Spinner and getting an atomizer to sample juices. A good cartomizer or cartomizer/tank solution will give you the ability to vape off the rig for quite a while before needing to refill the device. Two batteries of the 2100mah or better will get most pack to pack and a half a day smokers through the day. This is just my experience though and you may find that ultimately what you need to be slightly different. Good luck and welcome to the forums here!

im so unfamiliar with all these terms, can someone please explain in plain English what these terms mean?

also how often do you have to change a coil? are they expensive? also does the starter kits come with liquid?

if i smoke a pack and a half day how long will the liquid last?

also i checked out 4 local tobacco shops / head shops in my area and none of them would let me try any of the e cigs or flavors...

I'm not really understanding the flavor analog desire, at all.

I went from a large, strange pipe with premium german tobacco, a complex blend of virginians, burley, and a little cavendish, straaaaaight over to banana and melon flavors.

No regrets. All I miss is the ritual, with the pipe: the flavor was nice, for the fix, but honestly I have a sweet tooth and so do most people. go with a flavor you like, not a flavor you're "used to."

I grabbed a clearomizer and an ego twist and I haven't looked back in 2 days. I honestly don't even know where my pipe is, this crap is so ....... tasty.

Blaze it sounds like you need a lot of help. your gonna have to do some reading. I'd be happy to help you but you have to be willing to read. Sound cool? Cuz this is a forum where people come to type to each other and read responses. We've told you that a coil head lasts around 2 weeks if you take care of it. (wash it whenever it goes empty. soak it in alcohol while you use a new one, dry the 1st one before using it again, and keep them in rotation) The coil heads are cheap and they will last you 2-3 weeks as long as your not burning the juice and as long as your being clean and careful.

If you need something that LOOKS like a cigarette... Then your going to sacrifice battery life. WHY? Because the vaporizers that look like cigarettes are small. and the battery has to be small to keep them small. So if you NEED something that looks like a ciggy, then your going to need extra batteries and a Personal Charging Case that will charge one of the batteries while its in your pocket while your out on the town. Personal charging cases are called PCCs. My favorite cigarette look-alikes are from smokelessimage and they do have PCCs for sale as well. I recommend you get a 2 battery kit and a PCC, maybe a 3rd or 4th battery as well. The kits will come with cartomizers that you will be able to refill with juice. Still, I recommend you get at least 10 cartomizers (including the 5 that will come with your kit)

For juice... There is nothing that compares to a real cigarette. Nothing. No juice. NONE. None of them taste or feel exactly like a cigarette. This is probably because you are vaporizing juice, not smoking tobacco. There are some great tobacco flavored juices out there... But they are juices that attempt to replicate the sensation of the tobacco flavor. They are usually a mixture of caramel, cocoa, vanilla, nuts, spices, and sometimes tobacco and smokey flavor extracts. But none of them are going to 100% without a doubt replicate a real cigarette. For most of us that vape.. That worried us in the beginning. That no longer worries any serious vaper... Because you quickly find out that vaping a nice caramel vanilla RY4 (RY4 is one of the most popular tobacco-like flavors that there is) is 1000x better than smoking a cigarette. In fact, after a week of vaping, you can TRY to enjoy a cigarette, but it tastes like ..... :) Pretty cool huh?

Now, most of us are going to tell you to NOT go with a cig-alike and PCC, and instead, just buy a bigger battery personal vaporizer (aka PV) they hold a charge for hours and hours (unlike the 2 to 3 hour charge of a cig-alike) and they have more options for heads... Heads are what you put ontop (the coil) to vaporize your eliquid. The ego batteries are the size of a sharpie (some are longer) and they hold a charge much longer than the cigalikes. Usually you get 1 hour for every 100mah the battery holds. So a 900mah ego will last around 8 to 9 hours vape time. Where-as most cig-alikes are only 300 to 400 mah and they only last around 2 to 3 hours vape time. This is OK if you have a PCC charging the other 1 in your pocket... But it can be annoying and it can be dangerous. The cig-alikes also have a shorter over-all lifespan. You may have to replace an eGo battery 6 to 12 months into vaping.. But the cigalikes need to be replaced more frequently. They only last around 4-6 months before they wont hold a good long charge anymore.

I personally recommend you start looking at eGo kits. 900mah kits are good, but the longer 1000mah kits are great. I recommend you pick up an eGo kit and buy 4-5 clearomizers (clearomizers are a type of head) for them. You can get the vivi nova minis, or the kanger Evods, or the kanger T3s. All of these are great for a beginner. I personally like the Kanger T3s myself. They realllly do rock my socks off and they make the juice flavors shine really well. I recommend 12 to 18mg juice for a beginner. 18mg has a STRONG throat hit. 12 is nice and smooth, but still enough kick to feel it.

If you smoked around 1.5 packs a day... You need to know that most vapers vape around 3 to 4ml each day. So a 5ml bottle of juice isn't going to last you too long. You'll have to put in an order for a few samples of different juices to figure out which ones you like best. But also buy a larger bottle or two larger bottles of a juice that your pretty sure your going to love. Something like a favorite fruit, or a favorite bakery item. 30 to 60ml would be a good start. But dont forget to order a couple bottles of some juices that you'd like to try, in sample size, so you'll know what you like for the next months juice purchase.

The clearomizers I listed (vivi nova, kanger, ect) all have replaceable coil heads. So, the tank stays, but you'll need to replace the heads. The heads ususally cost around 1.25 to 1.50 and eventually, when you feel confident enough, you can stop buying the heads and instead, you can buy silica wick and kanthal wire, and you can follow a how-to video on youtube and recoil the heads yourself. That is a little bit cheaper than buying brand new heads, and it becomes a nice, relaxing hobby as well.

If you go with regular eGos, then you will like the lower reistance heads (resistance and ohms are the same thing. These just refer to the amount of heat the coil will apply to your wick/juice. The lower the resistance/ohm number, the MORE heat will be applied to the wick/juice. The HIGHER the resistance, the LESS heat will be applied to the wick/juice. So for a device like an eGo battery, you will want lower resistance/ohms. 1.5ohms, 1.7ohms, 1.8ohms, 2ohms, these are all good resistances for a regular eGo battery.

If you go with an eGo TWIST, or an eGo SPINNER (These are variable voltage eGos) you will be able to tailor your vape to whatever head resistance you've got. For instance if you have a 1.5ohm head, you will set your spinner/twist battery to 3.7 volts. If you have a 2ohm head, you will set your twist/spinner battery to 4 volts. (you generally add 2 to the number of ohms your heads have, and you've got a good voltage for them! :) So if you want to go the variable voltage battery rout, go for an eGo spinner or and eGo twist kit. I think 900mah or more is your best bet. Each battery will give you around 8 hours of vape time while you have the other one plugged into an outlet. the 1000mah eGo spinner/twist batteries are best because when your using a high voltage, your battery will drain a bit faster, so you'll want a bigger battery. So if you go with the spinner or twist, get the 1000+ mah kits. That would be best.

And when your ordering juice, remember the 3 to 4ml a day rule. Get yourself a couple 30ml bottles of peach if you like peach, or blueberry if you like blueberry. But then try a couple 5ml bottles of flavors you THINK you might enjoy.. Like coconut cream pie, or snickerdoodle cookie. YUM! That will get you through till the next paycheck or what have you.

Good luck on your vaping journey. It is all very confusing and annoying in the beginning.. But once you have your kit in your hands and your vaping away on some good juice, you will not regret what you paid.. In fact, vaping is WAY better than smoking man. WAY better. Trust me. Trust all of us. Vaping is more fun, more tasty, and more healthier.

Enjoy your vaping journey. PM me with any questions u may have. Peace! :)

I started witha ego 900mah battery and clearomizers CE4 and CE5. They are great to learn on and cheap. You can have several clearo's filled with different juices and just swap around. As for the tobacco's, I'm looking for that perfect flavor but will prolly never find that "golden" vape with all the other flavors around.
Your going to have to go through a lot of trial and error in tobacco findings, some are nice and palatable and others are just downright nasty.
