Title says it all. I'm just starting my research on all of this. I want to help my boyfriend quit almost 40 years of smoking by buying him an e-cig starter kit. I have no idea where to start...

There is a Canada sub-forum where you can ask about international shipping and regional vendors:

If your intention is for him to quit...Perhaps you should be aiming to add vaping to his habit. Suggest the Ecig be used for convenience. Midnight, after a snuggle..."Stay in bed and use the Ecig." Concert or sporting event? Why miss more then you have to. Boss not liking all the smoke breaks? use the e-cig.
Point is, it has to be his choice to quit. If you place expectations on your "GIFT", you WILL be disappointed. Give it, encourage it. If he picks it up, okay. If not, don't let it kill your relationship. You are BOTH adults. He likes to smoke, help him to enjoy an ecig when he can't have a real one.
I suggest a Cig-a-likestarter kit(bloog,Smoklessimage, etc.) Look for two batteries about 10 or 15 assorted flavor cartomizers and expect to spend in the $60-$80 shipped
I
Build your own kit.
2 VarVolt batteries, i.e. EGo Twist/Spinner. $25.00 each
1 Charger. $10.00
1 Carrying Case. $7.00
A few delivery devices, i.e. Mini Nova, Stardust, CE4/5, Kanger T3. $4 to $8 each.
Juice, lots of non-tobacco flavors to start at about 18mg nicotine and 50/50 PG/VG... a nice Sample Pack would work. $20.00
Get matching colors or Chrome/Stainless Steel. You know what he likes.![]()
A budget would really help, there is a huge difference between what you can get him for $100 and $500...
To see if he likes it, this sounds funny, visit a gas station ask them if they sell disposable ecigs. They arent the best but it will let him see if he likes the idea of it in practice.
Volt seems to be the best liked cig style
The ego tiwists seem to be the best liked entry device
Lavatube clones (the young june and lrider) seem to be the most liked low end tube mods
The vv gripper/Ovale v8 seem to be the most liked low end box mods (I would avoid the v8 can be a bit problematic with the connector)
The bolt seems to be the most liked low end non variable voltage mod
High end stuff:
Cant go wrong with a provari set up
The Reo is a well recived box mod
Zmax version 2 (with the 8th menu) is well received
The benefit to the higher end stuff is its going to last longer and not be out grown as fast.
As far as juices, I personally wouldn't recommend a non RY4 tobacco. Heavy flavors help at first (while you are getting your sense of taste back) after that many people prefer lighter flavors like fruit. Avoid savory flavors like bacon, great for novelty but not good all day long.
Hope this helps and good luck and thanks for supporting him I know it was a bit problematic when my wife didn't support me vaping at first.
Oh yea, my budget would be under $100...

Here you go Pinkybo, I made this for someone else, but it may help you also. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartomizers/343294-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-lol.html#post7562212Right now I don't even know what e-liquid is or clearomizers are. I'm assuming it turns into the stuff you smoke?
Yep.Thanks Nitro! That's a lot of suggestions. I'll start checking them out. Just one quick question. When people talk about "vaping", do you just mean the act of smoking an e-cig?
