Want to ditch the Blu for something new

Been using the Blu cigs brand for a couple of months now, but I want to move onto something better and more affordable. My wife uses an eGo and I've given it multiple tries, but something about the way it smokes just doesn't click with me. I also want to stick with something small like a blu, but with more options like 3 piece e-cigs offer over 2 piece ones. I've read the new smokers guide on the main page and it mentions the "510" but honestly I don't even know where to begin to get more specific info on it! There is so much info on this forum that I'm lost in it all!

In short, if anyone can give me a primer on the 510 and why it's so recommended, I'd really appreciate it. Also, good online retailers if I decide to take the jump.

Much appreciated to you all!

I heard good things about the 510. Its made by joytech I believe, who also make the Ego line PVs. I started with blu as well, and if you want to buy their juice, its Johnson's Creek Smoke juice, from Wisconsin. I love the vanilla and cherry. You should get the 510 as it has more options and you can refill them with smoke juice, which saves a lot of money. You can refill blu cartridges too, but it sucks usually and is a lot of work.

Head over to joytechs site, and that is where I would order it for your first one. It seems like a decent upgrade from Blu.........which is where I think everyone starts. Congrats on choosing to Vape, its so much healthier and just fun. Welcome to the Forum. Joyetech Joye 510-T mini e-cigarette starter kits

Hello,
'510' has become a (if not 'the') standard connection for atomizers (also called clearomizers, clearos, cartomizers, cartos, rba's, rda's, and other things). '510' is the number of the threaded connection, and it applies to dozens of e-cigs, cig-a-likes, and pv's.

Whatever device you choose, if you select one with a 510 connection, you will not lack for accessories. The 901 or 808, or others have been relegated to essentially 'proprietary equipment'. When you want to expand to new and interesting things, you'll need an adapter for a 510 connection. You can find darn near anything to fit your 510, everything else is likely to require an adapter.

Check out the Vamo and iTaste, both reasonably priced, excellent, devices, user friendly and reliable, if you're a concientious user. Ecig juice tastes nothing like a real cigarette, even the tobacco flavors are off. So get a larger piece, that doesn't remotely resemble a cigarette, and has replaceable, rechargeable batteries, and a 510 connection, and break the look, feel, and taste of a smoke all at once. The only thing left to break is the allure of that beautiful 100mm filter-tipped white love goddess called a Marlboro Light. <Wipes away a tear> They still call to me, and they still win from time to time (damn you Killian), but with perseverance, I and my mighty Vivi of tastiness will win the day!

Seriously, though, IMO, the more physical differences you make, the better your chances are of not smoking. To my mind, if it weighs, looks, and feels like a smoke, I'm gonna put it away a have a smoke. So I broke those barriers and do much better now. I'm hoping (planning) to shed the smokes altogether in the next 10 days.

Good luck to you!

First of all, your Blu has a 510 connection. :) But it's overpriced and their batteries are small and a PITA, as they need to be recharged all the time. If you want to stick with mini batteries, what you have is fine. Just get some blank 510 cartomizers and some juice so you can refill your own cartos and cut the cost this way. I like Boge LR and SmokTech single-coil cartomizers, or you may try clearomizers, like Nano. Any head that is 510 threaded will work with your batteries.

If you're willing to move up to larger batteries, say sharpie sized, I highly recommend variable voltage eGo-class batteries like eGo-C Twist or Vision Spinner. I also like Kanger changeable coil clearomizers--T3, eVod, T2 (top coil)--they are all good and user-friendly.

I started with the Logic back in Sept. 2012, still use it at work. For relaxed puffing at home I graduated to the eGo CE4. It's really great because I can take advantage of all the different types of tobacco flavored e-juices. The battery on my eGo CE4 lasts me a week before I have to recharge it. I also have an e-pipe that I bought on line from "The Vapor Girl" web site. It's called the Classic Greenwood pipe, it's just the coolest thing I have ever seen. So I alternate between my eGo and my pipe, it all depends on my mood.

After much mulling it over, I've decided to go with the eRoll. Ordered the kit from http://www.rockymountainvapor.com/ I'll let everyone know how it turns out!

I like the Johnson creek flavors that blu uses so I was thinking about ordering Juice from Johnson directly. Is there anything I might want to know before ordering? I just need some kind of bottle or syringe I assume to load an empty eRoll right?

Great choice! ;)
I suggest getting blunt needle bottle toppers for filling the cartridges. They are inexpensive and you can probably pick them up at most vendors (juice or hardware). Very easy and clean.

I would get a few ego twists with evods. This is a great step up from cig a likes and a great combo for something on the smaller side.

I totally agree with this. The first upgrade away from generic starter kits I did (I was v2, pretty much the same idea as Blu) was to get some VV twist style batteries. I made the mistake of going with Vape4Life. There is nothing wrong with their products, but I went with them because they were 808 style connectors, so the stuff I got with my v2 would work with it, but 510/eGo is DEFINITELY the way to go. Variable Voltage (the twist, for example), though, is a BIG plus, lets you fine tune your vaping experience easily. At some point you will likely want to upgrade past this, but even then, since you'll be using the same connectors, you can hang on to those eGo batteries for the sake of portability.
