I've only have had issues with rba's x'D got the big dripper clone a while back. And well, even though you can close up them air holes. I'd reach in my pocket to grab my e-cig to find my pocket was rather saturated. i mean my wicks at least always saturated too. so no dry hits there. then my friend had a kayfun. i'm not sure if he sucks at building, or it's the RBA it's self. but i'd always tast them dry hits.

though I do want to try one more RBA, the lemo. but i also don't want to be wasting my cash on something i'll never use. besides. i don't mind dripping. i'm so used to it. I can tell the saturation of my wicks as i'm taking puffs, and know how much to drip it.

I just picked up a new clone though, before i decide if i'm going to pick up the authentic. I've only have heard great things about the veritas rda.

Your friend with the kayfun is probably over-wicking; it's extremely easy to do that, with cotton. Building coils is not hard, but getting the proper amount of wick... that's an art! :D Basically, with cotton, if it looks like it's just not enough... it probably is. Rayon is just the opposite... if it looks like it's too much... it's probably not, once it gets completely saturated.

I was a huge rayon groupie when I first got my kayfun, but I kinda backed off that, when I really did get too much -- dry hits from rayon make cotton dry hits taste GOOD. And I guess I've just gotten better at wicking with cotton; no problems now. I'd love to try some of that japanese cotton, but it's way out of my budget; just getting my cartos and WTA this pay-day was a real stretch.

It's a relative thing, I guess -- my bag of organic cotton balls was like $2.99, which makes a $12 box of 60 cotton pads seem outlandishly expensive. Plus, at the time I first priced them, I was still using the $6 clearos, instead of the $35 kayfun clones -- a very relative thing. I'm extremely Scrooge-ish by nature. :D

ah i see :) well my new cotton should be arriving at any moment. vapemail! yay~ I'm even charging my favorite battery in preparation, expecting this discovery of new wicking material. To be my next legendary milestone in the never ending expedition to cloud/flavor chasing.

You can get a lifetime supply for 7.40 :)
This stuff is just as good as Ko-gen-do :) Because of the shape (Square Pads) you don't waist any, you just cut strips, way easier than balls :)

Ok, thanks for that. It's starting to seem a lot more affordable. And when I finally got really good at "eyeballing" the right amount of cotton! :D

Here's another consideration, though: is it as easy to thread thru a coil as cotton twisted to a point? I recall the difficulties I had with ekowool when I was still using silica, and it's so damn hard to get thru a coil, I finally gave up on it.

My veritas clone is about all I use anymore. A tip on the keyfun though. Next time you try your buddys, try tipping it upside down and back up every three or four puffs. Helps keep the wicks saturated. I agree with Andria about the possibility of too much cotton in his build though.

The Japanese cotton is much easier to use. Just cut a strip and feed it through. It wicks better too. Another thing to note is, you pull each pad apart in half's to get the idea thickness before cutting your strips. So basically you are getting double the amount of pads to use. It might be a couple dollars more than cotton balls, but will still be one of the cheapest things in your vape arsenal. A few extra dollars is really worth the ease of use, and the better quality vape.
