Looking to purchase my first REO Grand with a RM2 and was wondering if there is anything else I should purchase with it? Extra spring? I heard people mention O-ring but not sure which size as they have two sizes.

And also in regards to the battery, I know it has to be protected type but how would I know when to change the battery? Could I just keep on vaping till I don't get any more vapor? Would I do damage to the unit or battery by doing that?

Looking to get a black wrinkle. Anyone have pics in that color?

Thanks and excited to have the drip taste without dripping

Welcome! Nice to see another Bayarea dude. Lived in So Bay most of my life, but Sac now.

you do NOT want protected batteries. they were recommended before the safe chemistry IMR batteries were introduced. AW IMR 18650s, Sony VTC3 or VTC4 or VTC5 are good, as well as many other IMRs. i'm sure others will chime in with recommendations.

get one of each o-ring they are cheap. yes, an extra spring is a good idea. a couple of spare RM2 screws are nice if you are as clumsy as i am. if you like to switch juices a lot, then some buy an extra bottle or two.

Whatever you do don't get a SL/LP first, it will create an addiction far worse than any cigarette. I used to pay $50 a week to smoke, now it's $200 a week for SL/LPs not to mention atomizers. I'm screwed......

Ahh, to hell with it buy a SuperLight; misery loves company.....
Welcome to it..

Got to help out a fellow NorCal member...

The REO Grand was designed around the AW IMR 18650 which can be purchased here But with the new contacts you can use any IMR flat top or button top depending on your power requirements.

The RM2 I believe will come with an oring to place in the drip well, the orings main function is to allow you to snug up the RM2 while orienting the air flow hole in the direction you prefer.

As far as black wrinkle?...

This is a LP REO Grand in Black Wrinkle finish.

EDIT: This pic shows the Black Wrinkle off a little better

oh yeh, you will start to notice when your vape starts getting weak. that's a clue you need to swap the battery with a fresh one. you will want to swap it when it drops to around 3.7V.

you should have a meter that will allow you to test your batteries. a cheap multimeter costs around 5 bucks if you have a local Harbor Freight. after a while you won;t need the meter to test when the batteries need to be swapped- you'll be able to do it by "feel"

Thanks for the quick reply. I heard good things about the sony VTC4 and will look at getting some of those. Was gonna look on ebay but not sure if I will be buying fakes. Any recommendations on a place that sells the real deal? What is the difference between the VTC4 & VTC5?

Are these the o rings I should get? o ring bottom fed rba 1mm X 10mm and o ring bottom fed rba 1.5mm X 10mm. Does the RM2 come with both of these?

And if I for some reason forget to change the battery and the battery gets drained very low, can I damage the battery or would the battery prevent me from getting there. (I currently have a regulated VTR and use my battery till it shuts the unit off)

The black wrinkle grand is sooo sexy

i would never buy a battery from ebay. batteries are the one thing you never want to skimp on.

VTC5 has higher capacity than VTC4 and so on. either is fine, tho/

try here
Authentic AW Batteries at RTD Vapor

i'm told he is a Reonaut and basically started his company to provide quality batteries for Reo users.

Most chargers won accept anything less than 2.5v resting voltage. I don't think this we be an issue for most because the vape at under 3v is exponentially weaker than at 3.7v-4.2v. Personally I can tell when I drop below 4v (slight change) and again at 3.8v(bigger change, flavor diminished, vapor quantity greatly diminished. Suffice to add when you notice a significant reduction in flavor/vapor measure the battery. I highly recommend a charger that will display a voltage reading. Can't say enough great things about the VP charger. I use the the VP charger as well as a Pila for the stubborn cells.
Links on the way: These are the chargers I use, the both correct each other's weaknesses.
Xtar vp occasionally has issues with higher resistance cells (sx30) and stops mid-charge.
Pila lacks voltage info.

not sure what that means Chowder...

i use an XTAR with the digital display mostly, and it accepts severely drained batts...

The Nitecore I4 charger does it enough for me. It has 3 bars displaying battery level, each goes solid when its charged to that point, and then the one above it blinks until its there. All three light up solid when fully charged. I've never had the bottom one blink so I'm fine. I've personally never used a meter to check my batteries, I've been vaping long enough where I can definitely tell. Plus I'm subohming at .39 on my LP Grand with a modified Trident V2, so you can really feel the difference. If I don't have an impulse to cough, charge the battery up! haha JK, but I'm using VTC5's in mine. Might give the orbtronics a go, the button top would be really nice to shorten the throw, and I thought orbtronics batteries are a little longer as well?

Mine will cut out at 3.8-3.9v on the sx30 cells if I run them below 3.6v. Pila is a bulletproof but leaves you guessing the readings. Don't get me wrong it IS a great charger 98% of the time and it will begin charging again after removing the cell and re-inserting. The Pila has never done this.
There is a VP v2 out now but I have never used it, maybe it uses a more tolerant charging algorithm.

The Sx30s work great, the additional length is the button top itself I believe. I have never had a short circuit condition so I do not know if it Will allow the spring to clear if it does happen.

Congrats! Your going to love it! A bit of advice. Order extra post screws! When I got my first Reo I was building my RM2 for the very first time, never even tried a Reo, I was psyched to say the very least. Obviously to excited. I unscrewed one of my RM2 post screws out to far and dropped it on a tile floor!!!!! Those screws are tiny! It bounced all over the place! Took myself and a friend about a half hour to find it! I was in total melt down mode! Thank God after getting out a broom and dust pan the thing finally appeared!

For batteries I would recommend the Sony VTC5's. For a charger I have the Efest LUC V4 and its fantastic, it displays the voltage of the batteries as well.

Don't worry about knowing when to change the battery, once you vape it for a couple charges it will become very clear when your voltage starts to drop off. I vape .6ohm coils and I put a fresh batt in before work and I keep using that batt till 6 or 7 (dinner time). If you vape higher ohm coils the batt will last longer.
