I want to give my dad and e-cig for christmas. Long story short, he ended up in the ER not too long because he couldn't breathe, and they told him he needs to quit now or else. They prescribed him Chantix, which he took for about a week and decided the side effects weren't worth the benefits. So I had this brilliant idea to get him the e-cig, thinking even it he doesn't quit, it doesn't inhibit breathing nearly as much.
I guess I need a suggestion for a model to buy that would suit him. I want something that is at least similar in size and look to a real cigarette, nothing to flashy, sparkly or bright colored. He won't use any flavors or anything. He does smoke, oh, maybe a pack a day of Full Flavor Marlboros or maybe sometimes Basics. I'm looking to spend $30-$40 if possible, though if theres one that would be great for him that costs more, maybe I will split the cost with my sister.
Also, I guess I want to know if, as a smoker who claims to want to quit, but isn't quitting, would it be an offensive thing to buy? I won't be upset if he tries and it decides not to use it, so long as he gives it a fair shot, but I know how smokers can get offended when non-smokers offer quitting alternatives/suggestions.
Edit: One other quick question, I read the section about the 3 main types of e-cigs, and a few other threads, and they refer to the battery life of the devices. So, say, if a model has a 2 hour battery life, does that mean you have to recharge it every 2 hours, or is it after 2 hours of USE, meaning you charge it once or twice a day, depending on how much you smoke?
