Starter kit... eh... Don't bother! Just get some VG, some PG, some nic, some flavors you like, and go at it. Any kind of kit is just about selling more stuff bundled together, and that stuff is not necessarily packaged in your interest.

Yup, you will mess some of it up, it's just part of the process. You have to be willing to take the dive into it. It's so totally worth it! I was paying $80 a week for juice before I starting making my own, and dealing with a nasty guy at the vape store to get it. I can't even calculate the money I've saved since leaving that jerk in my rear-view mirror! :)

Now I make 100 ml of juice for about $5, and it's way better than anything I bought at any B&M. Buy juice from someone else and vaping will be just as expensive as smoking. Make your own and be FREEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Oh no, don't go with anyone's kit, make up your own mind about it. It's when you go along with someone else's program that things go awry and you get off track. They just want to sell you stuff they picked out. Get some 100 mg/ml nic, some good PG, some good USP VG, some flavorings and go for it.

There are so many favor options I can't even go there, but I'm currently using Flavor West.

    Just do this:

    Nic:

100mg/mL Nicotine Base - Nude Nicotine

    PG:
    Propylene Glycol

    VG:
    Glycerin

And then pick out a flavor supplier you like. I started with Mt. Baker, but then they kept discontinuing the flavors I needed for my recipe and could not be counted on, so I went where they get theirs, Flavor West.

My 'starter kit' came from myfreedom smokes.

    1 liter 100mg nic
    2 250 ml amber bottles
    1 500 ml amber bottle
    1 liter pg
    1 liter vg
    100 ml erlanmeyer flask
    50 ml erlanmeyer flask
    cuppucino flavor by capella
    nitrile gloves

    From other sources,
20 ml syringe for measuring nic
5 ml syringe for measuring flavoring
empty 250 ml bottles and yorker spouts
    empty 18 ml dripper bottles

I think all that set me back about $100 delivered.

Yes, NudeNicotine is a good source and does offer free Nic samples w/postage. Messing up on a jug that taste off happens during experimenting.
Measuring supplies? You may obtain eyedroppers from any Wally-World or decent drug store. You could invest in glassware or acquire a small 100 gram x .01 scale for around ten bucks (which will hit the thirty ml. mark with some.), and save on clean-up of the glass. I been mixing since August of 2012 and only purchased ONE bottle of juice premixed in that span of time. One flavor mixes are fine.
