Maybe someone should sticky this somewhere :(

From my experience passthroughs should not be used with LR atomizers/cartomizers at least not on laptops. I blew two power adapters today. I have been vaping this way for awhile with a 650mah ego passthrough and went the first adapter blew I didn't connect the two. But after the second one and I saw how heated up it got and smelled burning I realize what's going on. It could be a combination of the 650mah being low and not buffering the current and/or the laptop not being fully charged but I won't be risking this again. I'm lucky the laptop actually handled that much current without frying in the first place!

From an electrical standpoint I'm not sure why the LR would have done that...

I've used LR attys with the same eGo PTs on a number of occasions and have had no problems (either jacked into my computer or a 1200mah rated wall adapter).

Although these might have been 1200mah adapters already, I've found that I can blow the lower mah ones pretty easy with any PT, regardless of the voltage. So, if you aren't using them already you might want to give it a try.

Sweet both my adaptors came back to life :) Anyway my suggestion would be for anyone heavy vaping on a laptop passthrough with LR (LR draws more current) to check the adapter and see how hot it gets. Hot is normal but really really hot is not. This maybe only when the laptop battery itself is low on charge so it is pulling current from the adaptor + the atomizer?

I use everything (306 LR, 510 LR, LR Boge cartos, ... ) on my eGO PT. Never had any problems +2 months. Yes, I am a heavy vaper (+5 ml/day). I keep a few things going, but the PT is the most used and my "go to" pv. I do keep mine plugged into a Mains adapter and not my computer (for convenience more than anything). I'll update if I have any problems in the future though...

Yeah I constantly use my ego USB with LR about 5mils a day and never once had an issue :( sorry about your issues. Since i've found the USB Ego I've pretty much stopped using mods all together

Mine is always plugged into a wall not a computer because my cellphone charger is the same as one of those wall usb so its just easier haha.

As long as the power adapter (supply) can deliver the amps (V/R) then it'll be fine.

btw, Current is measured in Amps (A) or milliamps (mA). Those maH readings are for battery storage or battery life.

For an LR on a 5v passtghrough, we're talking about something like 4.8/1.5, about 3A or 3000mA. A more conservative
estimate would be 4.5/2, about 2A or 2000mA. Some wall adapters can handle this but most PC power supplies would
have trouble with this. I have in the past damaged a PC motherboard this way.
