8-oWoah. I smoked a pack a day for 16 years. Never wasn't able to go a whole day without smoking if I had to (wouldn't be happy about it, but still). What was driving this for you? I can't imagine just the craving for nicotine driving someone to smoke through pregnancy. It's just not THAT hard. I'm not knocking you, I just don't understand this. It sounds like the addiction ran deeper than nicotine or the general habit.

I think if I had been planning either pregnancy I would have quit before I got pregnant. The first came after I was told that I could never get pregnant so was totally unexpected. The 2nd was after 6 yrs of no birth control and many doctors telling me it would just never happen again. 12 years between the 2, at least they won't ever argue about who gets the car tonight :). Doctors said that there are more miscarriages due to stress than there are problems with a few cigs a day, especially since the physical problems I have are exacerbated by stress. The research I did said that the main thing smoking a few a day would cause would be smaller babies and since hubby was a 10 lb baby and I'm only 5 feet tall I figured that might have been helpful :). Hubby is 6' 7" tall and I don't even notice how funny we look together until I see pictures of us. I would advise women who are trying to get pregnant to quit definitely though. I just wasn't ready to risk miscarraige from stress when the chance of getting pregnant again was so slim. Thankfully, I ended up with 2 beautiful healthy kids that I only want to strangle occassionaly :). They are 17 and 5 now and I can't figure out which age is more annoying from day to day. I managed to switch from analogs to e-cig during the summer with both of them home all day to drive me crazy, so something about the e-cig works!

After smoking for 45 years and trying every method of quitting devised, I finally got an e-cig. I went about 6 weeks of smoking 2 analogs a day and finally didn't feel like buying another pack so I just quit them completely. The biggest problem is now mental. I don't have any nicotine cravings, but I still would prefer an analog after a meal. I've only been off them for a little over a week, so 'm sure this will pass in time.

For me it was 4-5 packs a day for 41 years. Received my first e-cig April 30th (single battery model) and found I was satisfied using it as long as my battery held up. I immediately ordered more. May 18th my 2nd shipment arrived and I haven't touched an analog since. I find myself vaping more and more with 0mg, but sometimes like today I really had a bad urge to try an analog. I broke out some of my 36mg (I usually cut to 12mg) and took a few hits with the full 36 - settled me down quickly and I'm back to happy again. :)

Wow 4-5 packs a day for 41 years? I got up top 4 packs a day for a few years but then stopped smoking in my home when I moved which knocked me to 2 packs (too cold outside most times). I smoked for 26 years when I got my e-cig. From the moment I picked it up I was hooked! I tried an analog about 3 days after I started vaping exclusively and hated the taste so much I immediately put it out and haven't had one since.

There were just so many things I didn't like about analogs; the smell, the inconvenience, the holes in my cloths, the "chains" holding you from doing fun stuff because there wasn't a place to smoke there. To me e-cigs have been not only a lifesaver, but a source of freedom.

For a brief time after starting vaping I got the notion to quit nicotine all together and for about 2 weeks I vaped 0, then once the juice ran out I decided to stop vaping. First the vaping withdrawal hit, then I realized I was suffering from nicotine withdrawal as well and started getting the urge to have an analog too, so despite the price, I ran up to the mall and grabbed a Smoke-51 and have been back to vaping nicotine ever since (and loving it). Believe it or not it was worth the price of the Smoke-51 to avoid going back to analogs (plus now I have backups).

I was an analog smoker for 17 years. Pack a day plus. The BEST was the after meal smoke. It made the meal. This was the hardest to duplicate with vaping. It took about 2 weeks to not want an analog instead after a meal, but I was fine any other part of the day. Give it another week or so, make sure you use a FULL batt for the after meal vape, and your thoughts of analogs will be a thing of the past.

I absolutely hate it when some people on this board start sounding like anti smokers with their judgemental comments. Like you, I had two surprise pregnancies: one at age 38, the other at age 42. My kids are now 20 and 16. My doctor also told me not to quit completely, saying that I should smoke no more than 8 cigs a day. I followed that advice and smoked 4 per day. Both of my kids, like yours, were extremely healthy and bright, disputing all they say about smoking when pregnant. Common sense tells us what the doctors did: don't drastically alter what your body is used to when pregnant. I doubt that many doctors would give that advice today, not because anything has changed but because they are under such pressure to try and force people to quit smoking. I liked life a whole lot better when there was such a thing as common sense. I find this new culture of health fascists absolutely suffocating.

I understand your point but it's worth considering that a lot of people had a love/hate relationship with their cigarettes that was a lot more hate than love. Add to that the fact that most of us had no idea how much we smelled or how much better we'd feel physically and we end up with people who might sound like the anti-smoker lobby but who are approaching it from a completely different direction.

Actually doctors do still tell you this. My sister had a baby in march. And the doctor actually recommended that she not quit smoking, but to instead cutback to only a few a day. Reason being a few cigs a day not as bad for the baby as the stress if she tried to quit while pregnant

I started smoking at 14 and now 25 years later and mostly a pack a day smoker for all those years... I was able to quit the day I got my ecig in the mail and started vaping. Even though it was Green Smoke and not as good as this 510 :thumb: I did it anyway. Wasn't hard at all. I do think about my marlboros now and then but I won't go back.

My doc told me the same thing during my pregnancies... I smoked during both of them and yes I felt guilty. Both my sons were full term 9 pound healthy kids!

I do think about my marlboros now and then but I won't go back.

The biggest problem I have with missing analogs is when my body automatically does something that doesn't work anymore, like reaching for the lighter that isn't there. Whenever that happens I do have a short, sharp pang, it passes quickly but it still happens.

Noticing the ash tray isn't there anymore is weird too.

14+ years smoking 2 packs Mon-Fri/ 3-4 packs Sat-Sunday and some Holidays.

I had trouble the first 2 days. Had to order Menthol eliquid from a different site than where my e-cig came from. Could barely tolerate it, but was pressured to stick with it to prove a point to my wife and keep a promise to my daughter. In other words, it's either "I knew this would be another gimmicky toy laying around the house!" she said or "Dad, you promised." the 3 year old child said. Think I could tolerate the ridicule better though.

I occasionally do suffer a retentive memory of prior behaviors associated with analogs like fiddling with the zippo or remembering to put a pack in my pocket before I leave the house. I sometimes imagine the smoke being better than I remember, which is quickly gone once I catch a whiff of someone else's smoke.

But one thing is guaranteed. I don't fiend for nicotine!!

After my first pack of pre-fills from smoking anywhere i couldn't stand the taste of an analog. Now with my 10 flavor sample pack from Johnson Creek. i will never need tobacco again. It has only been 1 week for me but the tobacco cravings are completely gone.

I got a fever, and the only prescription is more vapor!

I was a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker (25 years) until last week (7/8) when I received my 510. I have had 4 analogs since then & none in the past 4 days. No desire whatsoever to smoke analogs again.

I have already turned 3 people on to e-smoking.

I am hoping to get my first 510 tomorrow, my 801 isn't quite cutting it anymore, just not enough vapor. I too have gotten all of my smoker friends and a couple of my non-smoker friends with smoking spouses to check out e-cigs, although so far I don't think any of them have made the plunge yet.

I guess I got lucky with the 510. I did alot of reading, but still, it was a tossup between the 510, 901 & 801 models.

My wife "busted" me yesterday. She said, "I can't believe how good your doing at not smoking!" I spilled the beans and now she wants one also... :p
I originally didn't tell her because I didn't think it would really work and I would just go back to the analog.

20 years smoking off and on. Started vaping one week ago and haven't had the urge to smoke a cigarette (I assume "analog" is the correct term for old-fashioned smokes) since. It works better than the patch for me, because I get that oral fixation. No more mutilated ink pens!

I can't imagine ever going back to smelling like an ashtray!
