As I'm walking up after waiting in line for 25 minutes to report for jury duty the guard at the xray/ metal detector is saying "keys, change, phones, wallets, cigarettes, lighters in the tray!"

drop my mini in the tray with my other belongings...

"what's this?"

"electronic cigarette..."

"absolutely not put it in your car"

"I brought it through airport security twice no problem if its safe enough for a plane it's safe enough for jury duty"

"drop the attitude, put it in your car and get back in line"

made me get back in the end of the line which was double the size and wait again to get through...

once in jury selection the smokers were provided a nice patio area for their habit while I had to sit twiddling my thumbs with one opportunity (lunch break) to vape out of a 10 HOUR DAY.

i should've made a scene...but it was 730 and I just wasn't up for it....sad day in my vaping life:(

I afraid that when I when out to my car I would have gotten in and drove back home and explained to them why I left later. There was absolutely no reason for what that rent-a-cop did other than he got off on his little perverse power trip. I would have told them there would be no reason for me to participate in a constitutionial exercise like a trial when my own rights were abused at the door.

Damn straight.

I brought my Chuck into the courthouse when I went for jury duty a few years ago.
I didn't have any problems.

i know i know...i shouldve...

i was already feeling defeated after waking up at 630 to do this in the first place...plus 3 cops working metal detectors plus 50 people standing around i guess i just didnt act...frustrated I didnt handle it differently...

Don't you have jury duty for a month or at least a week at a time, which would mean you may get called again during your duty period ?
If so I would definitely be using the phone and writing some emails/letters. Chief of police, or sheriff, mayor etc...
Heck I'd definitely write to them anyway, and maybe the local papers or news.
Stupid dream cop. What did he think you were gonna vape someone to death ?

Just today, i wasn't chosen to serve in a trial...but I am definitely considering writing a letter to the court.

If it's a box mod, just put a cigarette wrapper around it. If a tube mod, get an appropriate sized cigar tube. Oh, don't forget to carry a lighter too. Ta dah...

I am a stubborn old fart, only way I would have gone back in would be if that "guard" was relieved of his job.
In my opinion, this is a bit harsh on the guard.

First of all, he might not know much or anything about e-cigs, let alone what a Reo Mini was(hell, I didn't know what a Reo Mini was until a month after I started vaping)
Secondly, the Reo Mini doesn't exactly look like a cigarette/cigar.

The guard probably opted to play it safe. Yes, he was being a bit of a jerk, but if you had to stay parked by a metal detector and xray machine all day with whatever random acts of idiocy comes through day in and day out, would you be in the best of moods?
All I'm saying is, not everyone is as educated as we are when it comes to e-cigs, and even fewer know of the more "advanced" systems. So while I'd probably be torqued off about something like that as well, I'd also remember that those in jobs of security don't always have the luxury of letting something slip by and might not have the time to be educated.
