Wattage?

Hey guys,

This might sound like a stupid question but I have to ask.

I've been vaping an iStick 30 with a Kanger Nano, a .5 coil at around 15 watts with the air flow wide open. For me, that's the sweet spot.
I get good flavor, good air flow with a cool vape.

With all the hype about the iStick 50 -
I ended purchasing one.
Is there any advantage to vaping that same tank with the same settings off of an iStick 50?

I Vaped the iStick 50 with an Atlantis V2 today at 25 watts and it was too much for me, even with the airflow on a minimum setting. Is it better to have a device with more headroom (wattage wise) or should I just stick with the iStick 30?

Longer battery life. The iStick 30 is 2200 mAh whereas the iStick 50 is 4400 mAh.

The greatest advantage of vaping the Subtank Nano on both iStick 30 and iStick 50 is the battery life. You get double the amount of battery life vaping on the same settings in the iStick 50W (4400mAh) vs istick 30W (2200mAh).

In terms of headroom, the first is battery life (again ) and the second is that the 50W supports lower resistance and also that you won't be taxing the mod as much compared to 30W should you decide to increase the wattage you vape at in future.

Sounds like low wattage is more your speed. That said, you won't see any difference between 15 watts on either device. Not that the 50 watt istick is a bad choice... you do get double the battery life.

Both Subtank Nano and Atlantis V2 are in the 'sub-ohm tank' category. The Atlantis is known to lean more towards cloud than flavor with it's better air-flow and vertical coil construction. As for ST Nano, it has decent flavor and cloud.

OP: Your assessment is spot on. If you were dripping maybe the 50 watt could help. Most of these subtank coils with many juices dry burn above 35 watts and the sweet spot is usually 20-30 depending on pg/vg mix. If you want to explore, try a $25 Kbox. It will do 40 watts down to .4 and there is not much to go wrong with it.

It is not the perfect device but they designed it to work with subtanks and it's DC to DC straight to battery current at each wattage step. *Some* would say that they prefer DC to DC over PWM (puls width modulation), that many of the VV digital devices do and some would even say it is a more steady flavorful vape. So trying it at even 25 watts for 10 seconds vs. a PWM device "may" be a different feel. Just words off the street. If my coils could handle 50 watts I would go get an istick 50 because that is pretty much the go to option.

That said, the battery in mine last most of a day chain vaping. Then I go pop another battery in and keep going. The thought of sitting at my PC vaping while my mod charges is a no go, that is why I moved away from stick mods.

Same tank and same settings should be the same on any reg mod.
The istick 50w just has a larger battery and can use the extra watts for lower ohm builds if you want but that can depend on the atty your using.
For most comes down to the battery capacity and size of mod and watts they vape now or may want to vape in the future.

When I tried an atlantis for the first time I found is super warm vaper and so much smoke. Almost coughed myself to death. It eventually dawned on me that the problem was that I was simply not use to it. Now I vape on Kayfun v4 1ohm-1.2ohm @ 13.4 to 14.2w, have preset set to these 2. I switch over to the atlantis and marquis RDA without any issues. I can go lower than 0.5ohms but then again even at this level I only do max 22w. Works for me. I have gone up to 28w but I was just burning juice and not enjoying it. Even on the marquis rda I only do 22 for dual coil 0.8 ohms. Mind you I have noticed that the YiHi 350 in powerful mode makes a big difference to way I vape. Istick are great devices, have a 20w and got my brothers 50w models and they dig the battery life and it's not heavy for them.

Thanks Bhoot. That's pretty much what happened with me. The Atlantis seemed too powerful for me and very warm. I ended up having to lower the iStick 50 to a very low wattage and close the air flow to a minimum. I was hardly getting any clouds or taste.
Like you said, maybe I just have to get used to it.

If you think the Atlantis vapes too warm, then you would hate the Subtank. I think the Subtank vapes way to warm for me. To me, the Subtank vapes warmer at 22 watts than the Atlantis vapes at 35 watts.

That's what I taking about Jseah, the V2.

And you think the draw on the Atlantis V2 is too tight? I actually turned down the air control on the Atlantis V2 because wide open I felt it was too loose. Even looser than the Kanger Subtank. From my point of view, I think the draw on the Atlantis V2 with the air control closed down (with the top air control closed as well) is exactly the same as the Subtank Mini with the air control wide open.
