Hi,

So I've just bought a smok R80 that has variable watt & temp controls.

Only problem is, I don't actually know what I'm doing with them...!

I can set it to a mid-range and have a decent vape, but what else can I do with them? I am concerned about setting something too high and frying something not meant to be fried.

What's the thinking behind using these settings?

cheers
A

As long as you use the correct setting for the metal of/in your coil, you'll be OK.

If you have a Stainless Steel coil, you need to enter stainless steel mode (Temp)
The other one in the kit (if it's like UK) is Kanthal, I think. (Watts)

If you don't know which is in your tank, see which one you have left.
*These are only guesses though*

You haven't given us enough info to tell you how to set it up. Start low and work up until you like the vape is good. That's also the point of the settings: there's a good deal of flexibility built into the machine so you can make it vape how you like it. You say you can set it midrange and get good vape. Great! If you have specific questions about something you want it to do you can't figure out, we'll try to help. Welcome to the board.

0.5 ohm Ti coil, Istick 60W
Put it in TC-Ti mode, set the watts about 40 or 50-- doesn't matter much, the watts is more like a "do not exceed" limit than a control of the vape-- start the temp about 350-370, and work your way up the temp scale until you get the vape you want. The only time you need to adjust watts is if you are getting an annoyingly long wait for the coil to get hot enough to make vapor. Setting them "too high" doesn't mean anything, really. The wire won't exceed the set temp no matter how many watts it uses to get there.
