Most people start at 24 or 18 mg and the ajust up or down from there. I started at 18 and quickly dropped to 10 to 12 mg's.
I still vape that but also vape lower or no Nic. Once you get off analogs completely..you find it's not the nic so much anymore..it's the action of the hand to mouth. then of course there is flavor and throat hit (for some).
Don't sweat it. You just work on finding the right level and flavors..the rest will take care of itself.;-)

Jeff, I think it would depend on how dependant you are on nic. I found that I can do without for most of the day (vaping) but like my hit of nic at night. While out and about or for really late at night I can go to 6mg or no nic, just for the flavor and feel.
I was never very dependant on nic..but the other chemicals and the hand to mouth, that was my thing! Lot's of people on the board feel that for them it is the nic an will vape more at a lower dose. They tend to go to 36 to get it. (I would pass out!) They also add snuss and snuff to their arsenal for the nic.

A related question for MaryKay and Ace... I've sometimes wondered if I would vape less using a higher mg. I use 18mg now and have never gone higher. Any thoughts beyond what you mentioned?

When I tried using a lower mg, I was vaping CONSTANTLY, and had really bad cravings, and all I could think about was smoking a cigarette. Then I decided to give it one last shot and ordered some 36mg to see if it would make a difference... And it did. Well a bit too much of a difference :p I thought I needed to vape the 36 like I was the lower stuff, and ended up getting wicked ill from a nicotine OD. Not fun. I figured out fast that a puff here and there every few minutes from my PV using 36 mg liquid works GREAT for me.

I look at it this way. You can buy 12mg juice and vape on it all day long (the average person kills about 3-5ml a day) or you can go a bit higher, and vape less, and go through less ml's a day, and end up saving yourself some money.

I only use high mg liquid, and I am not one of those people who are so addicted to nicotine that they need snuss. :vapor:

So to answer your question, Yes. I feel I vape less using high mg liquid.

Oh, And I wanted to point out that the price for liquid is the same for 6mg - 36mg liquid. IMO, The higher ones equal more bang for your buck. :)

And my numbers on how much the average person vapes was gotten from a thread here on the forum where every one replied with how many ML's a day they go through. I didn't make it up lol

I say give the higher stuff a shot, if you don't like it, dilute or trade it! :) Never know till you try. It also depends on how much you smoked/what/how addicted to nicotine you are.
I smoked a pack and a half a day for 7 years. But then there are some people who smoked two packs a day for 30 years and wont go higher then 18mg. Lol It all depends on you.

Ace, that's the truth! It depends on YOU! I would also like to point out that the longer you have been away from analogs the better your chances become at going to a lower nic.

It seems to me that those people who enjoy a cig or 3 a day (which is way better then 2 packs a day and a win in my books) have the hardest time getting their nic down. I think it's the chemicals rather then the nic..the chemicals induce a craving.

Regardless, vaping is NOT smoking..so who cares if you vape like a fool all day or just vape to maintain your smokeless counter? You are stlll winning the battle!:toast:

I started at 11mg which was a little to weak, so I bumped up to 18mg. A few weeks later, I've dropped down to 11mg again since the Nic can be a little harsh, especially in cold weather. 24mg is simply too much for me. I can't stand 36mg.

I'll eventually drop to an even lower mg since the TH isn't too important to me.

But 0mg? Not sure.. one day maybe.

I started with 36mg. For a while I was trying to vape mostly 24mg but it just didn't have enough TH for me. Plus, I was vaping more of the 24mg than I was the 36mg. With the 36mg I usually go through 2-3mL/day. When I was using the 24mg I was running between 4-5mL. I've still using up some of my 24mg juice but that mostly gone and I've been quite happy with the 36mg and plan on staying there for a while.

I'm one of those who doesn't ever plan on totally cutting nic and wouldn't mind it one bit if I never dropped from 36mg. At my worst with cigs I smoked 3pk/day of Kool NF, though before I started vaping I was smoking 1.5-2pk/day of Kool XL Blue.

Amen to that, MaryKay!

I vape around... started with 18mg French Vanilla and 24mg of tobacco flavored a couple of months ago. Got one small bottle of 36mg "just in case" juice in my second week with some DIY mixing stuff because I had no idea what I would like, and I made a bunch of 18mg, 12 and even some 9mg flavors. But I found myself dripping the 36 in extra-stressful moments. I went through a little less than 1ml of that per week, have mixed another small bottle. Haven't wanted it very much lately, but, I also started vaping a lot more 24 when I got some cartomizers a couple of weeks ago... and I think I'm starting to vape a little less now. I usually have some of my lower-nic juices during the day/evening also. I like to change flavors a lot, there are some flavors I like so much I don't care what the nic level is. I have even liked a couple of 0mg juices, but I am not very interested in them right now. And I am trying to stay away from tobacco flavors, although I still have some cartridges left from the starter kits.

So it can vary, for sure. Everyone has to find their own level, and it may change along the way.

I also hope to get down to 0mg eventually, so that vaping can be just something I enjoy occasionally and not something I really "need" to do, or go nuts without.
