How about adding menthol to your juice to simulate the TH.
I think best way would be to gradually reduce the nic and add menthol.
Also for me 70 PG is way too high, I usually like lots of vape so VG is my base plus feels more satisfying even at lower nic.

My 2c.

I thought about that and actually was using menthol cartos for a short time because they did simulate a good throat hit. But right now my favorite flavors are all EC Blends. RY4, RY7 and Dragon's Brew. Don't think I would like any of them with even the slightest menthol. I just placed an order and am trying 12mg in a 60/40 ratio. Don't wanna go much lower in the PG because I use clearos and don't want clogging issues. The Dragon's Brew is pretty thick even in 70/30.

Congrats on your commitment to cut down on the nicotine. I'm in the same boat as you. Came into vaping only recently, picking it up at 12mg since the Djarum Blacks I used to smoke (only about 5/day) were 1.7mg nicotine, so I thought 12 would be a good place to start on juice. I picked up about half my juice in 12mg and the other half in 6mg. I have to say I definitely notice more of a throat hit with the 12mg over the 6. Plus the stronger nicotine is sometimes more craved by my system, whereas other times of the day when the nicotine craving isn't as strong, I try to stick with the 6mg stuff. So you might want to try that route too, having a little of both levels on hand.

Halo Tribeca has been a favorite of mine so far as well. I'm still working my way through my initial 7ml bottle (12mg nic) which I bought as part of Halo's Variety Sample Pack. However, I haven't tried any other RY4-based juices, which I'd like to. Was thinking of starting a thread asking for suggestions of juices similar to Halo's Tribeca that I should try if I can't find a similar thread already out here. It would be nice to be able to tweak the PG/VG ratio to my liking a bit which is something Halo doesn't allow you to do.

ECBlends was actually one of the juice vendors I read about with a much-liked RY4. I forgot which thread I read it in, probably the Whats your ABSOLUTE favorite flavor? thread. But that person got extra flavor (overall), plus an extra shot of caramel and an extra shot of vanilla.

I've only ordered from MBV & AiV so far. MBV Butterscotch a huge favorite so far, the others not fully steeped yet, and AiV not yet received. The other 4-7ml bottles I have came from either Halo or Smokeless Image as part of my initial kit and of those, Halo's Tribeca and Belgian Cocoa have been nice standouts from that batch. I have the SI Volt kit now but am already reading all the APV threads in planning for and purchasing my first VV battery and tank, hopefully within the next month or so. There is sooooooo much info to absorb and take in out here, and I've only been vaping not even a full 2 weeks yet! :)

Sorry if this was babbling on a bit, I'm multitasking and kept typing then going off to do something else, etc.

I kinda feel the same way. I initially started with a V2 starter pack with 12mg cartos. Found this forum and saw there was a whole world of options out there.

Ordered some V2 Liquimax to give liquids a shot. Halo Trbeca being my first that I got as a freebie and I was hooked. In fact Tribeca was my first actual order of liquid. Went through a 30ml bottle in a few weeks. Working on my second 30ml bottle. I have also tried Mountain Oak Vapors. Have tried TNO, MOV Gold, Classic CountRY4 and Smokey Mountain 555. And while I like their flavors, they just take way too long to steep for my patience level. In fact straight out of the bottle the Gold tastes like a flower bouquet. Next up was 5 sample bottles from EC Blends. RY4, Super Nutty, Chocolate Hazelnut Tobacco, Chocolate Vanilla 555, and DK 555 Tobacco . Ordered all with no extra flavor and 70/30 qt 18mg. Did not like either of the Chocolate flavors at all and gave them away. The RY4 I loved!! Super Nutty and DK555 were ok. Enough to finish but not enough to reorder. Natural progression took me to a 78mm manual and X2 900mAh to add to my battery collections as well as trying several delivery system including CE3, a Nano, a T3, and e-smarts. Next up from EC was a 30ml bottle of RY4 with extra flavor and a sample bottle of Dragon's Brew and Dragon's Cafe. Dragon's Brew was my favorite so I ordered a 15ml bottle extra flavor with a sample of Darkness and RY7 in my usual combination. I killed the RY7 (my new favorite) in record time and the Darkness is just not for me. A little too dry and not and no sweetness.

Which brings me to my first attempt at changing my normal configuration. For my current order I dropped to 60/40 and 12mg on my two larger bottles. RY7 with extra flavor and Dragon's Brew with extra flavor and sweetener. And for good measure I added a sample bottle of Kahlua Wizard with extra flavor, sweetener and a flavor shot of Irish Creme. This one I did in 50/50 with 12mg just so I could try out two different new ratios with lower nic in one order. Gonna see how this goes. Order should be here by the end of this week. And I may start ordering 50ml bottles of my top two. Also will prolly try lower nic on my next Tribeca order.

Depending on how this next order goes I think I have found enough regulars to keep me happy. May try a few combos on the Kahlua Wizard and Coffee Your Way to see if I like any enough for normal rotation though. If the 12mg of nic keeps me satisfied I may drop to the next level in a smaller bottle after a few months to see how that goes. I am pretty sure if I get to 0mg of nic it will be the right time to slowly start the complete weaning off of regular vaping and only use it in emergency situations.

There is a babble back at you. LOL

So you got your initial ECBlends RY4 with no extra anything and still loved it huh? How about the second batch with the extra flavoring? Was that just as good? I've seen people mention Extra Caramel and Extra Vanilla too, separate from the extra flavorings. I dunno, I'd be afraid that too many extras would take away from the taste of the original blend but who knows. I do recall reading somewhere, either on their site or out here on the forum, that they go more conservative in their flavoring in their default configuration, and I guess that's probably why so many people add extra this and that to the ECBlend stuff.

I didn't get to order anything from ECBlend yet myself so I'll be curious to hear more about what you think of the difference between the extra flavoring and non (though I guess you also stepped down a nic level from one to the other as well). What I did order to try for a new RY4 was the SmokelessImage Volt RY4 since I'd heard a lot of good things about it and is even ranked in Bill's Top 10 in the RY4 Roundup thread. (The first post in that thread doesn't have the most recent update, which you can find here in 3 consecutive posts:
The most current update of The Big RY4 List with vendor and review links, RY4 Category Groups, and the RY4 Report Card was posted on March 6, 2013. The three consecutive posts are linked here.

Since I last posted, I've acquired a Sigelei Zmax v3 and am waiting on a Protank to come in too. Also, if you're looking for a good Chocolate, have you tried Halo's Belgian Cocoa? It doesn't taste like prepared chocolate so much as a very authentic cocoa powder. Quite nice, and IMO works as a nice base for adding a drop of fruity or minty flavor as well.

I quit cigarettes and started vaping just over 5 weeks ago.

I vaped 24mg for the first 2 weeks then dropped to 18mg for 2 weeks and am now on 14mg

I vape around 2ml per day.

In a weeks time I will drop to 12mg

So far it's been fine but expect it to be more challenging as I drop below a certain strength.

I am just going to play it by ear and monitor how much I vape when I reduce the strength.

I am mostly vaping menthol .

From what I've been reading once I get below a certain strength the throat hit will be reduced which can be counteracted with certain stronger flavours and perhaps even a higher voyage device.

I dropped 24 - 20 - 18 - 16 - 14 IIRC, then started dropping in 1 mg/ml increments. I'd vape a given level for about a month, then drop a bit more. Maybe a slight increase in vaping, for a day or so, then back to my normal ml/day.

Once I was at 10 mg/ml I was pretty content, I do like the effect of nicotine, have cut coffee consumption way down since I can vape in places I couldn't smoke. This year I did a couple more drops, am running 8 mg/ml now.

No big rush for me, I enjoy vaping, have seen noticeable positives health-wise by being off cigs for several years.

is it to much of a drop to go from 18 mg to 8mg?

That's a big drop. I'm sure it's doable, some choose to, but I, for one, am very content at making the transition as easy as possible. Always have some backup at whatever strength you are currently using that works for you.

Imo youre dropping strengths WAY too fast.

I tried this and was successful for 6 months but found myself back on analogs soon after reaching 0mg.

I would suggest dropping it down by 6mg every 3-4 months or even longer to give your body more time to adjust.

Its been 4 month vaping for me, started with 24mg, after 2 months I noticed its strong and cut down to 18mg, now i'm cut down to 12mg. But I still have my 100mg, 48mg and 36mg in stock just in case.

Good advice as well.

Even when Im down to 0mg Im going to keep some 12mg close by, just in case.

My initial RY4 order was as it comes. No extra anything. Really liked it. Figured I'd try extra flavor and it was even better. I just went with extra flavor across the board instead of trying individual favor extras to keep it simple. The RY7 the same. Sample bottle was normal order but my first big bottle will come with extra flavor at 60/40 and 12mg. But I like the RY7 better than the RY4. Did the same with Dragon's Brew. Normal order as it comes for the sample. Second order with extra flavor an sweetener. This third order of DB I went with double sweetener and extra flavor but dropped to 60/40 and 12mg of nic. These three are keepers so far. Think I may go ahead and try a bottle of SI RY4 just for comparison. now.

I'm prepared with a back up supply of stronger juice if needed and to revisit the strategy as need be, nothing's set in stone.

I'm playing it by ear, I don't feel the reduction is too drastic especially considering I started at a high strength and I feel that my body is adjusting fine so far.

I'm not in any great hurry to get to 0mg but I think it makes sense to reduce the nic strength as long as it still satisfies the craving

I'm nearing 2 months quitting. Started at 6mg since I knew I was gonna vape round the clock from previous failures with other setups in the past. I'm already down to 50/50 mixes of 0mg and 6mg. I'm comfortable Here for now, save for the added expense of having to double order juices. Soon to be even less. I tried some 0mg by itself in a clearo and it wasn't quite satisfying yet.

For your 0mg juices, you might want to consider finding a juice vendor you like that sell concentrates of their flavors. There really is no reason you should pay full e-liquid prices for 0mg juice. I'd say do the same for your 6mg. Buy concentrates and a pre-mix of 50/50 (or your preference) PG/VG with 20% more nicotine than you want your end result to be. That way you have it narrowed down to just 2 ingredients.

Sounds like a hazzle, but really it isn't. Instead of added expense due to two different strengths, you'd save a bunch by not paying the same for 0mg and 6mg as you would 18mg or more.

Well I just got my next order from EC Blends. RY7 60/40 12mg, Dragon's Brew 60/40 12mg and a sample of a Kahlua mix 50/50 12mg. Letting them all steep for a few days to see how it goes. I will say this. When I first got my V2 starter kit I ordered 12mg. The first time I tried 18mg juice after using 12mg cartos it was quite a hit to the system. Hope dropping back down will not be hard or I have 65ml of liquid to go though firsts. LOL
