Hello everyone,

I just got my e-cig today, in fact its charging now. I wanted to send out a post to everyone about weaning off the nicotine though. Wondering who has successfully gotten down to 0 and what tips and tricks they may have. Wondering how long to give myself per level etc. I am sure its different for all but any help would be excellent.

Thank you

There are definitely some people here who have gotten to zero. I plan to but am just up to the first step down - I started on 16-18mg and I'm now on 10-12mg.

1. I have good performing ecigs that meet my needs and enough equipment to never be without juice or battery (well the M401 is more a good tasting ecig than a good performer, but it was my first)
2. I don't vape constantly - that let me vape more when I lowered my nicotine to smooth over the transition
3. I bought a lot of juices to do it but I figured out what kinds of juices satisfy me (for me it is Turkish blends, caramel tobaccos, vanilla, chocolates, fruit teas)
4. After needing tobacco juices with good hit for the first 6 weeks, I go to where I had some other flavors with less TH that I could vape and be satisfied (Like BWB Vanilla Bean which has a cool throat sensation)

When I was comfortable on my current level and had plenty of juice to last several weeks, I started only buying juices 1 step down in nicotine - both my must-have faves and some new ones I really wanted to try (so 10-12mg juices instead of 16-18mg).

Then on a Saturday I boxed up my 18mg juices separately, and brought out the 12mg. I vaped a bit extra and it worked fine. That was a drop to about 75% of my previous nicotine. For a bigger drop like 12 to 6 (a 50% drop) I may phase in the 6mg at times when I vape the most and then go to all 6mg? AT some point I'll buy 0 nic of my faves and of some good mixers and cut down my old juices to whatever my current level is.

The drop in TH is what I miss the most. But caramels and vanillas with cool throat feel and aromatic flavors need to fill in for that somewhat. And some of my tobaccos still have some OK TH at 12mg (yum Casablanca in a carto). I will be OK. I was a lights and ultralights smoker. Some might need PVs that can use LR parts for hotter hits to replace the loss of TH when you drop lower the nic.

I started with 12 mg, went up to 18 mg and now I am back at 12 mg. My favorite e liquid only goes as low as 6 mg at this point, and so I know I won't go lower than 6mg. But my next order is going to be both 6 & 12 mg, and I plan to mix the two for 9mg. Maybe one day zero, but I am content being at 12.

Best wishes!

Weaning yourself off of anything has to be done the same way. You need to set a goal or have a plan as to when you want to cut down a nic level. I'm at 18mg right now, and I'm going to stay at this level for 2-3 weeks, then drop it down one step, and continue on that path until I'm down to zero. Lowering the level of nicotine you're taking into your body is definitely going to give you a mild level of withdrawal, so I would suggest being mentally prepared for that. Furthermore, I would tell you that once you step down, when you find yourself wanting to vape, you should ask yourself if you need it or want it? If you really can't go 5 more minutes without a vape, go for it, but if you're just vaping to vape, that's not going to help you accomplish what you really want, which I assume is quitting altogether.

Me...for about the last 6 months of a 2 year vaping stretch before quiting vaping. I quit vaping for 4 months cause I thought since I didnt need the nicotine then why continue. Sold all my PVs & mods (except the REO) and I was doing fine. Then as it does in life a series of things happened which got me wanting/needing to buy a pack of smokes. Fought the urge till I got home and dusted off the REO (with a full 6ml bottle 0mg) and immediately jump on the PC to order some 24mg tobacco e-juice. Fastfoward to today....still vaping at 18ml BUT still 2 years without a cig....it can be done.
