Unofficial website update -

I've been stalking the new web site for some time now hoping to get a clue on when they will be reopening and managed to get a sneak peak at the new site. Out of respect/guilt for Ben and Christy I will not point out exactly how I am able to do this but those of you who are 1/4 tech savvy can easily figure this out.

Looks like they've been doing some work on the website this weekend. They've implemented a lot of the new product icons and loaded what seems to be a majority of their SKUs. The site is still missing product descriptions and company information (WTH is up w/ the horizontal scroll bar?). Unless this work is continuing offline and will just be synched later I highly doubt they will finish by tomorrow. I would even be surprised if they were able to open by Tuesday though I am praying they do as I am down to the last few drops of BB and GJ literally. At least it looks like they are very close.

As much as I hate to say this but I would actually prefer these folks enjoy their Memorial day weekend rather than cramming all weekend trying to prep the website :/

If you look at it in IE it's got a long way to go. Chrome it looks great except for a few little things. But I don't care if it was just the generic skin. As long as the site works and takes orders correctly.

Shoulda looked to the community. Hell I do web design on the side as a hobby and have a ton of exp reskinning xcart and oscommerce. Coulda had it done in a few days since they don't have many products. And woulda been happy with like a years supply of juice for payment. 400ml or so.

Found the problem with the scrollbar, didn't even have to look at the css, but it's going to be in the content-container2 css element. It's set to 200% width. And he's got the background inside the div's instead of page background.

Don't know if you're doing it yourself or a friend or something, but I hope you're not paying a lot.

Lol IE sucks to start with. Im in web design myself and I would be hard pressed to find a handful of people who still use it as their personal browser. Thats why it's usually the last browser to be updated in web site update or redesign.

As far as looking to the community goes, thats placing a lot of trust in someone who may or may not have the right credentials, training and or level of trust with sensitive information. No offense but I wouldnt trust my companies web redesign to someone who just does this as a hobby . Too many variables and unknowns there to take a gamble with.

Dealing with a pro at least offers you some recourse in the event of problems or other issues.

Heres some friendly advice from someone within the industry as well. Everyone hates a critic. You might be doing this is a hobby but being hypercritical of everyone elses work isnt going to win you many friends or contracts for web design or updates.Maybe thats why you've been unable to do it full time?

If you have any plans of doing web design as more than a hobby youre going to have to learn to keep opinions like that to yourself and not knock the other guy as it makes both of you look bad.

Im with Bent Wookie on this one, I hope Ben and Christy enjoy their Memorial Day. Im not really expecting the site to be up until the end of next week. If it happens before then I'll be ecstatic but until then I'll be vaping a backup juice and giving my taste buds a vacation so they can taste Hype in all its glory.

See that's the thing. I don't want to do it full time. I've been a desk jockey before and hated it. 1-2 websites a year is enough for me. I turn a lot away because I just don't want to do it. Hence the hobby part. But at the same time I'm always honest. It just bugs the hell out of me when a pro makes basic mistakes. In the industry I work in I repair appliances in home. If it's not worth fixing, I'll straight up tell you. If you ask me what would I buy. I'll tell you a couple, but at the same time let you know none is reliable anymore. Yes I'm probably more honest than I should be, but I've had plenty actually thank me for my honesty. And looks like IE is 13% of the browsers used 3rd out of 5, so while it's not as high as it used to be, still can't sweep it under the rug just yet.

And really I wouldn't of had to see any sensitive information, could've just pulled the images from the site they wanted to use and anything else they sent and made the site locally. I could have walked them through the xcart install over skype. At worst I would need to know the old cart system and version for importing/converting their old db.

I would want honest opinions. Sometimes I give them even when they weren't asked for. That's me. But like others have said if the guy was a pro we would never of even seen this site. Even if he didn't have access to a dev server, which these days you can do locally on your computer. Even if he had to do it remote on their space, there was a few easy ways to hide it.

.... Dude, this thing has been down forever, eh? .....

Yeah....last orders processed were from 4/15,16....the two chaotic days the store was open for 30 minutes one day and less than 10 the next. The website bogged down, many invoices weren't properly processed and had to be refunded...it was a real mess. A few of us were lucky enough to get orders in successfully, but are running out now....while others never got their orders in and have been out for a while.

As we all watch and wait for the new store.....I fear that as soon as they open there will be a serious rush with overwhelming demand. Ben has stated they're going to impose limits so hopefully that will help control the hoarders...but there's nothing to stop people from placing several orders up to the limits unless it's somehow limited by account.....folks could also open several accounts to get around that.....

Many have said they're done with it....bad business....reputation is damaged....blah blah blah blah.....but the Boba's faithful, those that vape it daily and love it....will be back and ordering as soon (and as much) as they can. If the website redesign and business expansion is successful at handling the load, this outage will be just a blip on the radar, forgotten within a month or so as business returns to normal and the Boba's is flowing again.

That feel when you find almost 100ml in the classys. Woo wee!

Lol that's what I did. Found 100ml gorilla juice @ 18mg and 45ml bobas. I've been sitting pretty since this all started, just as I ran out I got my stuff from the classifieds :)

I can't believe people just have this stuff sitting around and are willing to part with it. Works out good for us though!
