Hi and Welcome to ECF!

I am not aware of what vendors are reputable across the pond other than one. You will find more resources in the EU forums and registered suppliers.

Just starting out a simple setup to test the waters and not break the bank would be and ego or evod battery and simple tanks.

This is one of the only vendors I know that it is also in the UK to ship for you:
Starter Kits / Totally Wicked
any of those 3 will do the trick to get you started.

These set ups are good enough for many and they stay with them - some find that vaping is a fun hobby and they buy a variety of set ups. (I am a victim of the latter LOL) Either way - even if you go to a "better" set up you will still need back up and this system can stay with you.

If you are feeling "game on" and ready to dump some cash - save yourself time and money and get a provari. Many start here and upgrade slowly until they could have bought 3 Provaris as the initial cost on them is a lot. If you want to start in middle grounds money wise - MVP2, SVD, Itaste VV3, Evic and Lavatube are some examples of what is inbetwixt the Ego style kits and the top o the line.

Hi weejim and welcome to ECF!

You've come to the right place for answers to your questions. And having created your first thread and your first post it, you're well on your way with forums too :thumb:. I'm not really up on what you can get in Scotland and/or if international mail-order is good for you and the like. I'm sure others will be by in a bit who know more about this. In the meantime, Baditude has a great blog on starter devices here that also touches on e-liquids.

Think also about weather you need something that looks like a cigarette in size or you can accept something bigger that has more battery life between charges and generally gives you a better vape.

It is confusing at first, you're not alone there. It will all make much more sense once you've got more information

I strongly suggest you take your time and do some reading here in the UK Forum. There will be plenty of posts from all over Europe with reviews, vendors, all kinds of links that we here in the US do not know a lot about. This is a great way to cut down or stop smoking cigarettes. I smoked 2 pad for 45 years and I have almost 5 months no cigarettes. You can do this. You need a reliable device, a backup, and several tasty juices in a couple of different nicotine levels to get started.

Welcome to ECF.

Welcome to the forum! The key to a positive start is doing the "homework" of researching what will be best for you as a individual. Over the last three years since I started vaping the options available has grown tremendously. Reading here, and watching reviews will help give you the insight of what would be the best "fit".

hi all I am brand new to this forum ( or any other forum for that matter) and not sure how it all works id like some advice on buying an ecig device but its all a bit confusing I have been a smoker for forty plus years so would like to get the right device to give me the best possible chance quit the evil weed

Welcome to ECF! You've come to the right place.

I agree that the UK Forum would be the place to find out about where to get gear close to home so you don't have to pay international shipping. But, you need 5 posts before you can post outside the New Members forum. Until then, you can still read anywhere you want.

I smoked 2 PAD for 37 years and had resigned myself to smoking until my dying day. But, it's been over 2 1/2 years since my last cigarette, thanks to vaping.

The gear and e-juice you choose makes all the difference. Yet, we are each different. So, the only way to find what works for you is to try things out for yourself. What we can do to help is to advise you what to avoid and to share our experiences. There's no magic, one-size-fits-all solution.

The best thing to do is to learn about the basics, then start with what you think is the best bet for you. You can make adjustments as you go to find the perfect fit.

Good luck on your journey, and happy vaping!
