Hi everyone, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, im a 31 year old IT Systems Admin that has been an on and off smoker for some years, i seen a review of ECigs a little while ago and being part smoker / part IT Geek i thought these might be an interesting alternative...

Im looking to buy my first ECig shortly and would appreciate any advice, id prefer to get one without cartridges i think this is referred to as drip tipping? id prefer this to carts as i know i would keep forgetting carts for the cigarette.

Can anyone point me in the general direction of such an ecig that is of a moderate price??

I seen the reviews of the US Volcanoe Ecig and liked the look of them but the cost and shipping is making it quite an expensive ECig..

Any Advice would be great, as im off to read the reviews section right now :)

Welcome and have fun searching for your perfect PV. It took me alot of searching but I found what I like best. Do you need or want something that looks and feels like a cigarette? Or something less conventional? For a slim ecig I really like Halo G6. For unconventional but still small I like the GLV 2 super mini. These both use cartos, which for me is the easiest. Just need juice, carto and battery and Go :) bnrk

Hello & welcome Kristiaan :)

I'd recommend the Riva from Vape Escape. It does come with dry carts but you can buy a drip tip from them as well. In fact, they often enclose one free with first orders :)

Welcome to the forum!

This is a good place to start to get an idea of the type of pv you might like.

Best E-Cigarette for a New User

Liberty Flights does intl shipping and they have a fairly wide selection of pvs

E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings

Click the 20% off coupon code on the top left.

With a 510/ego model you have vape a variety of ways.

Cartomizers (cartridge & atomizer combined) + battery
Cartridge & atomizer on battery
atomizer on battery - dripping
Tanks (tank atomizer & tank) holds approx 1 ml of juice

If you don't want to keep refilling cartomizers, they do make large cartomizers that hold about 3-4 ml of juice that will last most of the day.

Most folks here recommend a Riva or Ego, I have not used either so can't comment on those, they have a fatter battery I think. For me I needed a cigarette feeling style and light and easy draw, for that the Halo G6 is great. The battery will last me a couple hrs. Now that I have a GLV super min too, it is more unconventional looking but works great, has a lifetime warranty, battery lasts me a day. The biggest issue is battery life, if you want something that has a long battery life or if you don't mind charging them several times a day. So maybe that is a factor to think of too. bnrk

i personally liked the eGo-T as it is kinda like the least hassle for the cartomizers~ if u are talking about drip tipping, its mainly used for tasting of flavors and getting stronger flavors. Drip tipping is whereby u drip ur juice directly onto a atomizer and vape it. each drip would last u about 4-6 vapes only. So for hassle free, cartomizers or tank system is the way to go. eGo-T can be used with the eGo-T Type A tank system or Type B tank system (ask ur supplier for details) and you can use any 510 or eGo cartomizers on it as well. I can't recommend suppliers as i'm not in your area to advice you which are good and value for money in terms of shipping but as starters, this is what i would recommend~

If you are looking for an analog type e-cig, I reccomend the vEppo510. I got mine from e-cigarettedirect.com

Fast shipping, good price, great customer service. They even have a monthly give-away on facebook for a free bottle of 30ml liquid of your choice ;) I won one last month :D

e-cigarettedirect.com vEppo510

I have one and it's very easy. I got the economy kit for $39.99 and then the slim case for $12.00. I just screw on the cartomizers and go. Although I have an eGo and Joye510 mega (non analog looking, and uses cartridges instead) which I use mostly at home *and LOVE* when I'm at work the ease of the vEppo allows me to grab my small carrying case, go outside for a 'vape break' (yea, not allowed to vape inside at work), and that's it ;)

Chances are you'll end up upgrading eventually, but if you're looking for a good starter, this works well.

Happy Vaping :vapor:

When I first started looking into vaping I wasn't as much worried about cost as I was convenience and portability. I wanted something close to the size and shape of a cigarette - without that stupid button I had to press - as possible. I wanted a cigarette that didn't burn.

I now carry a PV that is about the size and weight of 25 to 30 £1 coins stacked up, and it not only has a button, it has an LED display. If someone had put this in my hand when I was starting out, I'd have handed it back to them and said "Thanks, but no thanks." If they'd forced me to use it anyway, it would have saved me several hundred dollars in close-but-not-quite-good-enough hardware, and way too much frustration. It's variable voltage, so I don't have to worry about ordering the right atomizer/cartomizer. It's regulated, so I don't have to worry about the flavor and vapor fading as my battery wears down. And it uses a massive battery, so a charge lasts me all day long.

Most people get tired of going back and forth to and from the charger on the small battery ecigs. You want something in the 650mah to 1300mah battery capacity so that the charge will last a while. 100mah is equal roughly to an hour of vaping.

The average ecig user buys a small battery ecig and later buys another kit to get the bigger batteries. Someone mentioned the Riva 510 kit from Liberty Flights up topic and it's a really good starter kit that will take you into all the accessories available for the 510 family.

For $29.95 you can get a Riva 510 starter kit that contains two complete Riva 510 ecigs with 750mah batteries (5 to 6 hours heavy vaping between charges), a cone (dresses up the Ecig), and a charger, along with a nice leatherette box.

The Riva 510 is a 3.7v version of the Ego style ecig (3.4v). It will accept any accessory with a 510 thread. That opens up a multitude of options that you will see discussed here on ECF.

Click the 20% off icon at the top of the page to get the $29.95 price.
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

It's also available in a Boge carto version for $34.99. You get all the parts in the Riva 510 Lite Bundle along with 10 Boge 510 cartos (a $16 value by themselves).

Just a quick update, firstly thanks to everyone who replied to me, i have had a read over the replies and a little bit of reading online and decided to-go for a Riva-T i was looking at doing for the drip method but after some reading about the amount of times it needs re-filling and carrying the bottle i decided to get a Tank system so i can fill it in the morning go home and re-fil if needed.

i also bought a 10ml bottle of Cherry 0.8mg nic E-liquid with it :) should be here in the next day or two.

also i noticed one of the posts referred to me as female, so before anyone gets there hopes up i would like to clear up this rumour ;) and confirm im a bloke. Sorry i know the name throws a lot of People its not the first forum its happened on either :D

If your interested my name is pronounced the same as you would Christian, just a totally different spelling..

thanks again everyone.

Hi again Kris :)

The only reason I tend to recommend the standard Riva over the Riva T is that I've read a few folks have had a problem with the tanks. However, the Riva T has the same thread as the standard Riva, so you can always try out any 510 atomisers or cartomisers at a later date :)

BTW, you will need to think about ordering some more juice fairly soon as 10ml isn't going to last that long.

For a first PV. I would 100% recommend the Ego-T (T stand for Tank).

I bet in a month you will be moding :)

If you want the bad boy and don't mind the price/size, IMO I would go with the provari.

your not wrong about the modding :) im a born tinkerer and this will be no exception i have already started reading the modding threads on here so gimme time to get my head around the tech and im sure i can come up with something.
