That horrid 2700 page piece of
(legislation) has, from the beginning ,had the exact opposite effect as it's stated intent. It's been sold using emotion, but disected it's a massive bureaocratic quagmire where none of the legislators that voted for it are willing to be beholden by it.
My healthcare premiums doubled as soon as the first phase took effect. At that stage I was forced to drop my coverage.
I'm going to stop now... I have very strong feeling about this issue and this isn't the place for it...

I'm just glad I'm a state employee (teacher) and my health insurance is provided, but we may have to start kicking in a little bit. To add my one daughter on is $135/month and they recently upped our deductible to $1000/person with 20% co-pay, so it's not great but it's better than nothing. I suggest everybody look for government and/or union jobs if you want decent insurance at affordable prices. Or be a national legislator so you can exempt yourself from Obamacare and get REALLY good FREE insurance.

The Individual Mandate has been pushed back til after the next presidential election, by decree of the same man who worked so tirelessly to jam that POS up our collective
I guess the DNC is afraid of the political reprocussions when it goes fully into effect...The DNC would love for this to happen...

I know little of the health plan, just an optimisitc comment on my part as i like the idea of having or being able to afford health insurance. its been 4 years since i had any coverage.

but my brain, throat, nose and even teeth hurt. i am just counting down the next 118 minutes till i can leave.
maybe ill luck out and the misses and the babes will be at a day care that she just started at (not really working at, kinda a week trial period) but an empty house and bed sound soooo appealing right now. quiet and relaxing.

Just to be serious for a sec - since it has been brought up here - I need to say one thing about "Affordable Healthcare Act" and Health Insurance . . .
As someone that has worked most all their life in one service profession or the other that relied on getting tips to sublimate the meager salaries that someone can possibly earned from these positions, especially with companies that refused and never ever provided health insurance, sick days, or vacation pay . . . I would have to say - THANK YOU "President Obama" for the "Affordable Healthcare Act" . . .
YEP - If I was still working - I would so want any Health Insurance I could find that was even somewhat affordable . . . Especially given the fact that I - for the most part - had to pay for any healthcare I received and when I couldn't afford to had to either 1) Go without (which happened most of the time), 2) Rely on the "Healthcare Clinics" that were sometimes available to "Me" or 3) go to an Emergency room that would only provide what was absolutely necessary - nothing more (No preventive care) or follow-up . . . Even when I volunteered/worked in a Healthcare Clinic it was still extremely difficult to get any quality Health Insurance that wasn't just a basic HMO plan . . .
Matter of fact, IMO - if the "Affordable Healthcare Act" was an actual fact back then - I honestly do not think I would be in the position I am in and/or at least could have been put off for a little while longer - Now that I am disabled (and the list of illnesses I have that were/could be possibly preventable is quite long to say the least) . . .

i surely didnt mean to start a debate. simply, it would be nice for insurance to be affordable or free for myself and my family. Levi gets free insurance through the state as long as i dont earn a certain amount ( i am no close to that amount) it only takes about 16 hours at DES spread over a week to get him approved/renewed.

This travesty of legislation does nothing to help the service professionals in this country. Unless you are working completely under-the-table, and show below the poverty line it will cost you more for healthcare, regardless of where it is sought out. Under the original statement, ten-million more people will receive healthcare benefits than had before the act was passed. That's approximately 3% of the population. Meanwhile, since it has passed, many times that number have had drastic changes to their benefits (all to the worse) in out-of-pocket expenses. More than ten-million have lost their healthcare benefits or their jobs, themselves due to the impacts of the legislation. This has hurt the working-poor and middle classes significantly.

This is all I am going to say on the topic of Obamacare or, The Affordable (ahem) Healthcare act.
My wife was working a close to 39 hours a week. Now that this legislation is becoming reality, her employer will not allow her (or any other part time employee) to work more than 29.5 hours a week, anymore then that and they have to pay an additional fee to cover her health care costs (which she doesn't even receive through her employer.)
We are losing close to $175 a week from her paycheck as a direct result of this legislation.
Whether or not it makes healthcare "affordable"... it sure as Hades is making OTHER things LESS affordable for us.
