4. 8/22 - Wow! Lots of talk about a bill that most US senators haven't even read. I could care less how it's supposed to work, how it fails, who it costs, who benefits, or any of that. From my experience dealing with health insurance companies while working in a doctor's office, I have my own opinions on who the real winner is. They'll find a way to make out like bandits no matter what happens, since they're motivated by profit and swimming with lawyers. Between the doctor, patient, and insurance company, only one of these is making ludicrous amounts of money. Sure, there are rich plastic surgeons and a few other individual cases of success, but in general our healthcare professionals are underpaid and buried in redtape. Much like our banking industry, this needs a complete overhaul not just a new law. If the VA is any indication, government control doesn't look like a good idea. I have my doubts as to any possibility that there can be improvement.
