RPAD, have you tried dry burning that Twik Ekowool yet? I was going to get some before I read the warning from the vendor about dry burning. It makes sense, Ekowool can hold heat and easily transfer it, resulting in burnt cotton. I'm curious.

In that case, I don't feel stupid for ordering a boat load of regular Ekowool.2) You can't dry burn or dry torch Twik Ekowool. What you can do is torch it while the wick is still wet. Depending on how much buildup you have on the coil, you might be able to burn it all off before the wick dries up. The danger, of course, is that the cotton core will burn.

I haven't had any issues with wicking so far, and dry burning makes all the difference to me. YMMV
