What is the flavor profile of RY4? I have heard that it's a sweet tobacco, but I think what I want is more of a smoky caramel type flavor... really rich and full of flavor.

That is the flavor profile of some ry4s... I just don't know, yet, which ones... ;-)
It is originally a tobacco with vanilla and caramel notes, based on what I've read. There is a thread, here on ECF, dedicated to nothing but RY4 varieties.

#4 Unfortunately, you will not find much consistency from one RY4 to the next. Generally, the only thing they have in common is that they have some caramel, vanilla, and tobacco. You will find extremely wide variation. Some are very sweet, almost dessert-like. Some are bright and dry, with just a slight sweet top note. And everything in between.

As far as DIY flavors, I have RY4 Asian and RY4 double, and from my experience the Asian is drier and has more of a burnt sugar caramel, whereas the Double is sweeter and more like caramel candy. I have never tasted anything fruity in the double. My :2c:

I've found the ry-dbl to be a bit sweet/candy-ish and a bit thin on the back end... Perhaps I used a touch too much.
Tish, does 8% sound strong for the ry4-dbl?

Hi all, just got back from the ER >.<, woke up this AM, and could not move below the waist, never a fun experience lol. Anyways had the wife help me much to her dislike, and shifted a couple disks back into place and although wobbly I was good enough to walk downstairs and get in the car.
Doc did a few tests, surgery might be coming sooner rather than later ...

On better news I am waiting on more colored packing tape to arrive so I can move to the next step in my newest builds step.

She should be a fast monster, might make another wing a little bigger and lighter to just thermal and soar with as well. I love this hobby it is one of the few things that keeps me sane.

No, jac, 8% isn't a bad place to be with the double. I also find it lacks in the tobacco flavor department, and usually add a couple % of some other tobacco flavor. And a little (and I mean VERY LITTLE) acetyl pyrazine really helps it out. Adds almost a salted caramel note to it that I like.

Geeez sky, that's terrible. Best of luck on the mend, hopefully they can help you soon.:nun:

I was going to whine about having been up for an hour already due to uninvited house guests wandering around trying to figure out how to make coffee... but in comparison I have nothing to complain about.
