it keeps turning off almost immediately after you turn it on.

That sounds like a fairly easy fix...maybe...
Physical (bridge) short: easy...
Bad solder joint: easy
Fried board or component:

That's about it right there. The Vamo, Zmax's, and similar boards have + and - wires coming out the top, + to the 510 center pin and - connected to the inside of the cap. If the - wire comes disconnected, it will turn off. It's odd that it turns on at all, if that's the case. Many Vamo owners have had "9.9" ohm reading issues after crushing the gasket under the center pin, shorting the unit out. This does not sound like your problem.

I've made the mistake of shorting out an atty, the Vamo fired anyways and blew most of the board. It still turns on and reads ohms, but it won't fire. This doesn't sound like your issue either. All I can say is the top cap is pretty hard to get off without scratching it, they're press-fit in there really tight. Dealing with the 2 wires going from the board to the atty connector/cap is easy enough, but getting the board out of there is really hard to do without damaging it. Good luck!

Thanks Uncle!
Note: if you're looking for an ultrasonic cleaner for DIY juice, the MOST important feature is run-time before shut-off.
3min: stay away! GMO steeps his juice for 3-hours to consider it pre-steeped. I get annoyed by the 8-min run-time on mine...
So... The longer the run-time, the more useful the USC...

2. I think it should be illegal too!!!! There are a handful of professions that seriously need to reconsider allowing employees to work sick, let alone expecting them to. UGH! I'm sorry you are dealing with that, it's not right at all. I hope you feel better!

agreed! unfortunately at a care center you have to choose between being understaffed (people don't like to be called at 4:30 AM, and the less staff the less care the residents can get) or bringing in sick staff..

I have that exact DMM from HF and don't care for it. I could subtract it's internal resistance from my ohm readings... if it was consistent. I even built a base with a 510 connector and 4 inch leads going to the DMM and it still varies by +/- 0.5 ohms. It works fine for checking battery voltage, but for atty ohm's it's not very useful. Maybe I got a bad one, I've read other folks having similar problems though. It would cost me more money in gas to return it than it's worth.

That particular ultrasonic cleaner has a 3 minute timer, I own that model. I press it ~40-50 times when attempting to pre-steep e-liquid. It does work, I'll give it that. Sorry for the buzz kill... just trying to keep others from repeating my mistakes.

Well, I got the vamo apart, did a quick visual and didn't see any issues that were obvious. Put it back together and it reads the battery voltage and measures the atty fine... as soon as I try to fire it, the mod shuts off and blinks 3 times like if the battery just got inserted... no idea what's causing it
