Slow, inefficient, unresponsive and unwilling to listen to suggestions? Unfortunately, you just described half of the American work force.

Sorry to say the problem affects not only the work force, but management as well. I once complained to a supervisor at the post office why they were stuffing my mail box with unwanted mail belonging to the person renting the box before me. Her response was: I should get a bigger mail box ... Needless to say, I terminated the mail box, but she didn't care - as long as she got her paycheck. I see such examples everywhere I go - banks, retail, medical and legal, entertainment and sports, you name it.

That totally sucks; at least the airline (American Airlines, now defunct) gave me a "courtesy bag" with toothbrush and etc, when they realized why my bag didn't show up on the carousel. :thumb: But considering that mine was also right after xmas, and in my bag were various items I'd gotten for xmas, I was REALLY worried -- luckily the bag showed up before I was even up, the next morning.

Should have seen that layover at O'Hare, though. Talk about 'standing room only'... this was more like 'lying room only,' there were so many people camped out there, waiting on the storm to pass -- snowstorm right after xmas. When I got on the plane to Milwaukee -- FINALLY! -- my seat was unfortunately directly next to a wing... so I got to watch them de-ice the wings... THREE TIMES, before we finally taxied. I love to fly but that was NERVE WRACKING to say the least!!!

That was 27 years ago. I'm pretty sure we were picked up at the airport by the military, but I don't remember the details of the conversations with the airlines. What I do remember was being restricted to the barracks for 2 days with NADA. I imagine someone must have at least gotten me a toothbrush. I could never understand why the military had us fly to Ft. Dix when the drill sergeants were still on leave.

I remember the day the drill sergeants arrived. I was 23 at the time and grew up around the military. I pretty much knew what to expect, but that wasn't the case with most of the young people. The drill sergeants lined everyone up with their personal belongings, then asked who smoked cigarettes. Quite a few people raised their hands, looking very pleased with themselves. One of the drill sergeants said, Congrats, you just quit! LOL They walked around with trash cans instructing everyone to throw in their cigarettes and lighters. I can clearly remember the look of shock for some of the new recruits. It was priceless.
