Just rewicked my subtank mini rba and adjusted the coil a tiny bit. Used the same cotton I used before that came with the subtank mini kit.

Now I'm getting a weird taste it's the newer version rba with the juice holes in the side

I watched pbusardo review on it and he said the insulators could give off a bad taste I'm not sure if I have the peek insulator or not

Rewicked 2 more times and still have a funny taste not burning or dry hits anyone know what I can do to make it taste better?

Hi Shannon,
Look at your coil for crud But the insulators are probably the culprits.
Try washing out your tank and replacing your coil.
If it still tastes bad it's those nasty insulators.

Have Phun!

if it's the insulation I believe you can purchase new insulators. email the company, it's quite possible they send them for no cost after you tell them your issues. I contacted the company myself as I was getting juice poping in my mouth (another known issue) the insulator can cause that as well. this is a KNOWN FAULT and you should have no trouble getting that replaced. look online for the email address. Hope this helps and hope you get your issue resolved soon! best wishes.

Yeah I just emailed them I think not 100% sure it went through.

After giving the entire tank and rba a nice hot cleaning and fresh coil and wick the taste is mostly gone but still noticeable

You mentioned juice poisoning? Never heard of that can you explain it a little?

Sounds like you have a Delrin insulator instead of a peak insulator. Delrin can't take the heat that peak can. Try lowering your wattage.

Hmm that could be it I can't even describe the taste of what I'm tasting it's not like terrible tasting just off taste.

How would fresh cotton taste be described?

Hard to explain. I'd have to go with "chalky". I get the image of white powder or chalk, don't know why.
Try firing it for a while without vaping it, or just gently blow away the vape while firing so the atty doesn't get too hot (with the cap off of course). I do this with every new build, some take 2 minutes some 5 to lessen the new build taste.

I know the cotton that comes with the Subtanks tastes different than regular KGD. I rewick at home with regular KGD from the box but I have the little baggie of cotton that came with the tank in my desk drawer at work in case I need to rewick my Reo or my Subtank. It definitely tastes different! I can tell the difference between the two. It goes away after a few vapes but it is a weird initial taste.

Be sure your fingers are really clean, then make sure you don't contaminate them (like rubbing your face). Anything on them (natural oils especially) will transfer to the cotton and the RBA itself, which can easily and a funky taste to your juice.

This may not be your problem, but it is something most people don't think about. Since it is the newer RBA the insulator shouldn't be an issue unless you over-heated the coil at some point.

What RandyF said goes for the Atomizer Wire also.
Good point, I always clean my wire, and fingers, with Everclear before I re-wick my STm's. Every time I run the wire through a paper towel (moistened with EC) it always leaves faint silver streaks, which is the machine oil that is being cleaned off.

I like to do the Same. And I try to Not handle the Cotton Pads I use any more than I have to.

BTW - Here is a source for PEEK Insulators if the OP (or anyone else) is looking for them.

Those are the same ones mine has

After vaping a tank of juice the taste is getting better

I'm going to contribute it to either tasting the cotton or my fingers had something on them.

As iv used 2 other coils in the rba and probably 50ml of juice or more and had no problems

It definitely could be Something on your Wire or Cotton. It doesn't take much.

I also found that when I used Flavored/Sweetened e-Liquids, that if I just kept adding New e-Liquid to a tank when it got low, that after awhile the hit started to taste Funky.

But if I gave the Tank a Quick Flush in Warm Tap Water at every (or Near every) Re-Fill, that the Funk Taste didn't happen Until the Wick/Coil needed changing.
