Yup. Your tastebuds are waking up, and it sounds like they're cranky. :)

I went through a couple phases of tastebud resurrection myself. And sense of smell for that matter. I became really sensitive to tobacco smoke -- I can smell it upwind from a hundred feet these days. I didn't discover things I liked I now hated or anything, but stuff started tasting and smelling a lot more vibrant. Especially spicy foods. That became painfully evident (literally) when I doused a pizza with some green Tabasco -- the mildest Tabasco -- and it was suddenly intensely freaking hot where I used to be able to handle it no problem.

But everyone goes through it a little differently, and if your tastebuds and sense of smell are bringing back the bad things first, all you can really do is power through it and learn what your new taste and smell profiles are like. They may yet change still and stuff you hate now but liked before you may like again at some point.

I had forgotten(or never knew) how bad heavy traffic smelled, there is a creosote plant on the way to town...OMG...that is nasty...worse than the babies diaper ever smelled...I cook with a lot of spices and peppers and had to dial it back somewhat...now, I know what folks meant when the said "it's too hot"...lololol

I have not gotten back my sense of smell or taste back yet - a little, but not noteworthy. I am assuming that it just takes time, but my wife and daughter continually tell me to have patience and do not even think about going back to analogs because they are just happy with the smell that is now gone from the house - MY ANALOGS.

My wife enjoys not sleeping with a cigarette and my daughter enjoys not hugging one or sitting at the dinner table with one...

+1 on the car smells. Was freaked out when i first noticed it, thought my car was going to explode. I believe it was the car in front of me, smelled like a head gasket leak, oily... notice it all the time now when im driving behind some cars... Amazing how strong those sense come back when they do.

And +1 on the foods and taste as well. Some things tasting weird, some make me want to vomit, but some are amazing... ate an apple tonight and it tasted like the apple exploded in my mouth...i always thought apples where just weird textured watery fruit... boy was i wrong!!

Like others have said before I can smell cigarette smoke a mile away...even more so than non-smokers.

As far as tastes goes...the longer I am off of cigarettes the less declicious coffee is to me now. I still drink it but it doesn't taste as good as it did when I smoked. When I smoked it was like nectar from nirvana.

I would drink a 12 cup pot a day when I smoked. I loved it. Now I usually don't finish my only cup in the morning. Strange...
