And these are the people that are teaching our children?? What the heck? Saying those kind of things about a person can ruin their reputation. What was she thinking !! Does she think you have such a low IQ as to use drugs in front of your child, or hers? I swear some people shouldn't be allowed to do anything. Drive, teach, operate computers, the list goes on and on. I feel for ya. Keep us up to date if anything happens.

Well given the fact that both the boys are only 7 does kind of explain.

He could of went home, and said I was smoking some thing that looked like a cigarette that was not a cigarette. My mom told her son today that it really wasn't drugs, and that it was E-cig to help you stop smoking.

But he could of went home, and told the simple explanation; then one thing to another it would kind of sound like someone smoking pot if I didn't know what a E-Cig was.

Wow! Just... wow! The conclusions people jump to these days. This is the kind of namby pamby bs being instilled in kids these days. "OMG its something I have never seen before it must be evil... :evil:EVIL!!!!" Oh wait... I guess thats nothing new, after all a certain wide spread religion has been teaching that line for years! :p Anyway, seriously man I would just take in your PV explain what it is just as you did here, and if she doesnt get it, then maybe your son is better off not being around some one being raised by such a close minded freak. Just my $.02! Peace!

3 weeks ago if someone had said to me that they saw someone smoking a metal thing, that didn't smell like cigarettes, and didn't look like cigarettes, you can bet your ... I would have assumed they were smoking drugs. I don't think this woman can be blamed for jumping to that conclusion.

I also don't think many would want their children around someone they thought was a drug user. I think it's jumping the gun a bit for people to say that this woman is doing anything other than trying to protect her son.

I'm sure you'll get through to her as long as you stay calm, after all any swings of emotion or misplaced anger over this would just confirm her initial assessment.

Damulta... you use the term "druggy" in your thread title..

just out of interest explain what the word means to you and perhaps why you used the word...

"Druggy"... then when you have explained what the word "druggy" means to you.. explain why you think you aint one..

then try and explain all this to your rather dumb teacher and more interestingly a seven year old..

Drug... a substance that is used as a medicine or narcotic..

It's what my mom said in her words words. Here it means someone that is a heavy pot smoker(I'm not(have not smoked in a long time now), aka .... head that smokes a lot of .....

IDK what they would use in the UK for the word.

Anyways my mom said that like that"Well you have been labled a druggie, and your sons friend can not come over anymore over your vapping", and really it's not a teacher.

It's the Schools Superintendent. Which is like a Principal, but the Superintendent is over all of the Principals in the school district.

My son understands what it is, but his friend does not clearly. My son happens to be big pro E-Cig, and tells smokers they should give them up for E-Smoking. They don't stink, and you can use them anywhere.

Just because someone has an education (this particular superintendent) doesn't mean that person is smart. Someone with a little common sense wouldn't jump to conclusions; they'd at least check with the parent in question first. (My pet peeve has always been people jumping to conclusions.)

really? I'm pretty sure that if I thought my child was being exposed to illegal drug use, I wouldn't wait for the explaination, I would remove them from the situation. I really don't think that assuming a smoking device that is not a cigarette is some form of drug taking is making that much of an assumption tbh, 90% of the time it probably is, after all there are more people taking drugs then there arer using PV's. Would you put your child at risk to give someone else the benifit of the doubt (and would you trust a parent you thought was taking drugs to tell you the truth about it just because you asked?)

Sometimes we have to accept that people will make assumptions and that they are justified in doing so, that doesn't stop us challenging those assumptions when we find them, but perhaps we shouldn't be making assumptions about other peoples motivations, reasoning, and levels of common sense.

As the parent of a small child (almost 6) and having an 18 yr old I know that if at a young age they came home and told me something odd I would call the other parent or go to their house and talk about it before I made my child upset by making a unilateral decision and ending a friendship. Kids that age confuse things all the time and over reacting before getting the full information is a good way to make yourself and your kids neurotic. Talking to the woman calmly and giving her some information and the website info will hopefully alleviate the problem.

This whole thing reminds me of a thread I saw a few months ago. A woman was vaping outside of some public building (I can't remember where) and a cop told her she couldn't smoke there and her small child told the cop something to the effect of "Mom doesn't smoke anymore, she smokes funny cigarettes" To a child a comment like that means exactly what it says, not what an adult would warp it into n their head. I'm sure everything will turn out ok with this kid's mom once you have a chance to talk to her though I agree that it isn't unreasonable for her to have assumed drugs.

Think about it, any of you, if you'd never heard of PV's before and a child told you that someone was smoking "a cigarette that isn't a cigarette" or a "funny cigarette" .. what would you assume?

I know lots of very very intelligent (we're talking physicists here) people (okay they're all men) who jump both on and to conclusions right regularly. I think it's a standard byproduct of the U.S.' judgmental mindset, as opposed to having anything to do with intelligence. I mean really when was the last time the U.S. left something they didn't approve of alone.

My son's best friend came over about 3-4 weekends ago for a day, and I was vapping around him. We went bowling, and I vapped while I was at the bowling ally. My son thinks it's cool, because I can smoke anywhere plus it doesn't stink to high heaven. I might of been working on some stupid little mod while he was here too.

Well his mom happens to be the schools superintendent.....

Well when my son gets home today, and my mom brought him home with the news. (My mom happens to be head of the learning disability department which also does not help.) Well your sons friends mom said that he can not come over anymore, because I'm a big drug user. Blablablabala........He's little friend came over, and told my mom this after school today.

So it looks like i get to take a drip down to the office and show off my PV to my sons friend/superintendent/moms boss.....

Fun Fun

Anything I should print off for her to read?

being that you're in my town, just curious what school? i don't have kids, or any in school, i'm just nosy and curious...heh. plus there are attitudes associated with certain districts, as i'm sure you know.
