If this should be in the OT section, move it.

I went camping for the first time since using my e-cig this weekend. We went to Jawbone Canyon which is a little over 20 miles from Mojave, CA (....ty 350 mile drive from here, I hate I-5). My friends have been doing this trip yearly for well over 10 years and I've missed the past 2 (been there 5-6 times now). It was my first time "going away" with my e-cig and not having any kind of power to charge batteries. Of course I took about 10x the stuff I needed with me and went through 3 18490s and about half of an 18650 from Thurs-Sun. I was the first one out to the location on Thursday afternoon and had nothing better to do after setting up camp than drink beers, vape and randomly shoot at said beer cans. I had around 3.5 hours of alone time in the high desert with the closest person being 2+ miles away (it was very calming being there alone when the sun was setting and looking out over the valley). It was a great trip and I'm still waiting for my friends to upload pics and videos from it. I'll try to update this when they get them up.

We had a small turn out this year and just had about 12-13 of us between the Norcal and Socal people. Usually there's 20-25 people that show up for this. I definitely prefer the smaller group. It's quieter and there's less debauchery going on (I'm getting old). Not having to babysit people that decide to use the harder drugs is nice as well.

Looking out over where you come into the camping spot. That's about a 20' drop just below my feet.

At our "shooting range" away from camp (I'm in the camo shorts in the first pic).

Nice pics!

I camp a couple of times a year and was concerned at first about battery issues, switching from analogs to e-cigs.

I bought a power inverter - if I am camping somewhere that is totally without power and I run out of batteries, I can connect to my car's battery supply for ac power charging. Not that I could drain the battery just like that, but the power inverter comes in handy for other things as well....and you can just crank it up for a few minutes and let the old alternator do its' thing. Crisis averted!

Remind me never to camp to close to you LOL. Beer and bullets. LOL I am hoping I can shake my allergies long enough for one weekend. Some of my best smoking moments were under that blanket of stars. Hot coals in a fire pit with the YL next to me. UMMM. Would love to do that with something that tastes better than a Dog T cigar. LOL

I'm going camping there soon.

It's going to be cold at night. We usually go a week or two later and the temps really drop at night. The coldest it got was in the low 40s this trip. I'm used to going and having it drop into the 20s.

I love it there though.

If you go up 251 (off 176) look for that rock. You'd be seeing it from the back side, but it's an awesome spot. We try to get it every year. It's also fenced in now all around it so you don't get much motorcycle traffic through there.

Pic taken from about the back of my Durango looking towards the main camping area and firepit. I set up far away since it makes for easier sleeping when my friend's get loud.

edit:

I didn't realize one of my friends ate fire until this trip. It was a bit breezy, but she managed to pull it off a couple of times.
