She's pleased that I've knocked the ciggies on the head, yay.
Let's say it was around June time. RYO's approx 25/day, fatties with no filter. Been smoking around 25 years and I'm 44.

A little bit of history:
Around 6 weeks ago I developed a dry, hacking cough (not uncommon for me). That turned into a chesty cough (not very productive) and I ended up taking 4 days off work. My co-workers probably would have thrown me out of the window due to the noise!

Anyway the cough died down, however, I became very "bunged up" in my nose. On occasion I would cough up a thick, whiteish phlegm.
The phlegm appears to have subsided but the nose is still awful & is causing me to get a dose of "glue ear" (LHS)

Doctor listens to my chest during deep breathing "sounds clear". Tongue out and say "ahhhh" time.....
Apparently my throat is really red, she couldn't believe it doesn't hurt. (No tonsils BTW)

On a dose of anti-b's and she'd really like me to knock vaping on the head.
I don't think I can do that & I certainly don't want to (actually I didn't want to stop smoking, it just happened that way)

Any ideas what may be causing the red (irratated) throat & nose clag?

PG/VG mix is around 60/40, 20mg nic.

I am not a doctor but she gave you anti-B's.
She had to give you the antibiotics for something. Did she say you had a sinus infection?

Sounds like allergies or a sinus infection to me. Doubt it is related to vaping unless you are hitting it really hard and often. Might drop the nic level a little an try less VG. I have heard too much of it can get the mucus up a bit. Could be an allergy to something else in the juice. Got any food allergies?
Might clean your gear if you haven't and drink more water.
I am otherwise pretty clueless.

My own doctor is happy to see me vaping. I find it hard to believe that you are having those symptoms from vaping. Most people get sick when they quit smoking, I sure do and it sounds like you have some kind of throat infection. The fact you didn't have colored, just cloudy phlegm says it not sinus. You should try VG only for a bit though just to make sure you are not having a PG reaction. The fact you don't have tonsils says you are prone to throat issues. They usually don't just take them out unless there is a recurring problem.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't have a sore throat - the Dr noticed it was very red.

I had my tonsils ripped out, ooooh, 28 years ago. It was common practice in those days for people who got tonsillitis.

I'm wondering if it's one of the flavours that's doing that. I do like Aniseed mixed with Blackcurrant, Peppermint, TW Red Label Tobacco. Prob is, I didn't know it was red/angry. It did get irritated with one flavour and I stopped that ages ago.

Yes I drink heaps of water: 4-6 pints a day & loads of coffee.

Thanks for the advice about washing the drip trips. I'm embarrassed to say - no I haven't. Not even thought about it to be honest. I just wipe them occasionally. Will do them tonight, chuck them in a dilute mouthwash and rinse in the morning
