Well to start it off, I got the end of my monthy billing done last thursday ( thank the lord), and that night I noticed my speakers quit working, tried to find out what was causing the problem but everything said working properly GRRR, friday morning got up and could'nt get on the internet, tried system restore and thing kept getting worse so I thought maybe I better run the recovery disc's I made when we got the computer but then found out my cd drive was compleatly gone, by then the only things I could open were documents and pictures but I could'nt backup anything, the cd drive was gone, my computer was 8 years old and the guys a best buy said it sounded like it was died from old age, so we went and bought a new computer, it has windows 7 on it ( I was useing xp on the old one) so I have been loading programs, e-mail addresses, learning this new windows 7, it's not to bad and a lot easier than vista but it's still different, worst thing was I installed my Quickbook program but my backups I had made would not restore my data, finally called Larry my computer man ( not my cable man ha ha ) and he got the data all put back in quickbooks this afternoon ( thank you lord), he also showed me several thing about windows 7 that helped alot. So I'm up and running again::)

Jean, Computer stuff drives me NUTZ! I expect iy to work..like my toaster, on and off..but with no pop-ups like my toaster. When lightning hit a tree outside, it took me forever after the computer people pronounced my computer dead..to figure out that the only thing wrong was my scanner. I unhooked it and my computer worked until the end of last year..it was 9 years old when it went belly up.

Being a professional computer geek as I am, I understand the frustration. I had a server go down late yesterday and had to spend 4 hours on it. That's what happens with the powers that be do updates and try to do them remotely. Oh well, at least it's Friday and time for a happy dance. Glad all was recovered and QB is working again. I know that can cause a moment of panic thinking of years of "book work" could never be recovered.

Frustration is right, and MK I go nutz to, everyone know to stay as far away from me as possible when I have computer problems, I am going to reboot up the old computer and see if anything comes up or if I can get some documents and pictures off with a flash stick ( I think thats what they call them, hah), maybe when I reboot it, it will be fine, then I'll really be ....... I did have some pictures backed up and several on face book so that helped too. One thing really good is I got a new printer about 4 months ago and it never wooked right with the old computer ( frustration again) but it's working like a charm now and I love it. O the world of technology for us older folks. LOL

agh, I have this love/hate relationship with all this new technology. I still remember the days, sitting in my 6th grade class in front of a computer and all I could do was have the screen show my name. Anyone remember 10 print "Safira". There was a way to make it do it repeatedly, I don't remember how now, but back then I thought I was big stuff for figuring that out.

Now my son has to show me how to answer my own phone.

I do hope you can get settled into your new computer.

Oh MK, now you're bringing back memories. I remember when the IBM electric typewriters was the latest coolest thing in typewriters. An office I worked at had a type of typewriter that you could type out a line and it would save it would only actually print the line when you hit return.

As a kid my dance teacher always wrote her notes using shorthand, and I thought it was so cool to learn to read it.

I wonder if they still use any kind of dictaphone in offices, at the time when I worked they were really annoying.
