The burnt taste can take a bit of time to get rid of. Just keep the atty wet. It will go away!! Honest.
This.

Whenever I clean my atty's and let them dry, some of them get really thirsty and don't start tasting good until after 4 initial primer drops and two more rounds of 3 drops. That's 10 drops! Don't worry, that taste will go away.

I have used some of the cart mods mentioned here, but haven't tried all of them. I like using my cart, and I don't want to drip. The best (and easiest) cart mod I've tried is the Buf Puf mod. My carts vape until they're dry. With no leakage. If you try the other mods and still aren't satisfied, give the Buf Puf mod a try.

I just tried the ptb straw mod today. I like it so well that I modded a second cart within minutes of the first. The only issue I have had so far was some leakage. But I was a ..... a put my 510 in my pocket cart side up.

It seems to be working very well. I vapid both carts totally dry without any issues.
It's not moronic to put your 510 in your pocket cart side up. What you're looking for is a cart mod that doesn't leak in any position and doesn't have wicking problems. If you only fulfill one of those needs with a modded cart may I suggest you try highping's cart mod. :)

In regards to using polyfill as a cart filler (polyfill is what is used as the cart filler in the highping cart mod), all I can say is ....

Polyfill as a cart filler is crap. Period.

The only reason it doesn't leak is because it is so over-absorbent that it can't leak.
This leads to the problem of insufficient capillary action required to properly wick the atty.

The problem with it is that it transfers so little juice to properly wick the atty all you get is vapour. Because of lack of the required capillary action, the filler can not properly disperse enough juice to the atty: You never get to enjoy the full flavour of what your current vape is.

Just my two cents worth.

HI & Welcome to the forum. I have the 510 also and the burnt taste should go away, but if it doesn't after a day or so I would try another atty. I have experience with a bad tasting atty, like a chemical taste, that I had been using for a week or so and it turned out to be just that(a bad atty). Refilling or topping off the standart poly fill carts is common, I have to do it all the time. It doesn't really bother me any more, it's kind of part of a ritual for me. But if it's frustrating try a mod like some others have suggested. Good Luck & Happy Vaping!

I too had this problem when I first got my joye 510. I resolved the problem without researching (cause I'm lazy, not because I'm a genius lol!) and turns out I wasn't filling up the carts all the way! I was putting too many drops at once into the blank cart filler, and not letting it sink in, and at that time I could only fit 5 drops or so in it seemed... so when it looked like it had "pooled" at the top, I'd be quick to just go ahead and put it on. Once I started allowing time for the liquid to soak in, I was able to get 25 drops in the blanks before it pooled! And the filled carts now last me a couple days (MAXIMUM).
Cheers! hope you are enjoying your new 510. I sure am :)

Sorry, I disagree. Anyways, not worth discussing.
You're right, it's not. Agree to disagree I guess. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. I just suggested highpings mod to the OP because it's the easiest and cheapest to make, and worked well for me and many others. Easy and cheap is great for beginners...
