I ordered 16mg nicotine juice, but can't inhale without coughing and sometimes it hurts. So I got a 5mg juice and can't tell there's anything in it, but yet if I inhale too deeply I cough. Could this be caused by the PG? This doesn't happen when I smoke an analog and I want to stop those nasty things. I've now ordered the 11 mg but maybe I should have waited until someone on this forum suggested something. Maybe going to VG? Heck, I don't know what to do.

Another thing, I've noticed some saying they go thru maybe four carts a day. Does this mean they replace them with new ones or what? In general how long do carts last, I thought you could just top them off and keep using them for awhile, but at what point do you know they should be replaced?

I've looked at the FAQs but haven't seen answers to these questions. And I DO want this to work! Thanks in advance.

It could be the PG. A lot of people have said they got irritation for a few days when first trying PG. Your body has to get used to it.

This could also be caused by your atty not being wet enough which will produce a burnt nasty taste. I see you are using carts. These may have dried somewhat since being stuffed and filled. Try topping it off with a few drops and adding 1 or 2 drops directly onto the atomizer.

In answer to your cart question... they should last indefinately if treated right. The only thing you should have to replace is the filler and juice.

Hi grisgris:)
It could be the PG which has a dry effect..so you could add some VG to your 16mg ejuice which ends up diluting it and lowering the nic , but at least you can see if it softens the cough.
What flavor are you vaping - as I know menthol at first really had me coughing!
As far as carts, for sure you can keep using the same one and top off ..and just rinse it out when it starts to look a bit cruddy and refill again:)
Good luck!!

Hi Gris, I had the some problem a few days ago and posted it also, here is the link to that forum in case you get differen't suggestions than I did. Everyone was very helpful and we got the problem solved. My problem was too high Nic content. I cut it down with glyc. and everythin is great!!

Thanks for responses. I'm willing to try all suggestions. Not doing Menthol cause years ago a Dr told me if I was hell bent on smoking at least give up the menthols. So I did, took awhile to get used to it tho.

This happens on the 5mg nicotine too, the harshness. So maybe I'll try the VG and see if that helps. I keep the filler very moist, so I don't see how it can be dry, or am I missing something again?

I got the best results by taking the filler out of the cart and dripping directly on the atomizer as far as good smoking results. But the VG helped a lot in the harshness. I think I need to cut a little nic back in even. I couldn't find VG at any pharmacies or walmart so I just ended up with the VG from hobby lobby, which probably isn't so recomended but it's all I could find and it works great.

I could also be your atomizer. What e-cigarette are you using. Especially with High Voltage vaping the atomizers wear out but the way they do it is that the vaping becomes extremely harsh.
Try puffing than inhaling instead of just inhaling directly into the lungs this gives the vapor time to cool a little. I never cough using that method but I've found that if I Inhale directly I would cough.

I can't direct draw at all. I pull the vapor into my mouth and then inhale. I smoked that way too. I tried once to direct draw and coughed my .... off... that could very well be the problem for many people. Good point!

If it isn't how you are drawing in the vapor... Is the flavor you are getting out of the 510 harsh? If so, you may have scorched the atomizer (common error for a new user on a 510). Clean out the atty with Vodka or Everclear, and reprime the atomizer with 3-5 drops of liquid.

From now on, when you refill your cartridge, make sure that you put a drop or two on the atty bridge every time, and you'll never experience that harsh burned hit again.

A new atomizer really needs a few drops on it too! Might want to try using a new atty to check how it is tasting if you have one around? Don't worry about "primer" as it is just e-liquid or PG (another noobie mistake is thinking they need to 'burn' it off, you don't!). Just make sure it is wet with e-liquid before using it.
