quasimod:
"Troll-watching"?
O.K.; could someone please tell me what is meant by Troll-watching?

Before I am unmercifully attacked for my ignorance, try to take this into account;
I am of the Baby-Boomer generation
Have only recently begun trying to learn computers
Only speak and understand plain old-fashioned English
Have to stumble around on my own with a really screwed up machine
First time ever registering, joining, or participating in anything online
Have never had any intent to offend anyone, but will defend myself

Super-great, rjp44! This is the type of experienced advise and support I had hoped for! Never thought about that, but had been suggested long ago when I discovered I was deathly allergic to bee stings. Before they gave me the epi-pen, they told me to use over-the-counter benydryl. Giant thanks for the reminder.

Now, I also don't know why several times I posted, they have not appeared on my screen. As in last night, I responded to Brewster59's post with an all-forgiven and asked him what the snus was. So, here I am again with, "what am I doing wrong?"

Please be kind! This IS a forum for new-bees, isn't it?

Hello, keyzygirl!

Thanks for taking interest; glad to meet you.

No, I have a successful long-time (22yr) marriage. This happened on a Sunday, and my husband had gone to church, just forgot to take his cell phone that day.
I should have known better than to start something new when I was alone; I usually am much more careful, given my disaster record. E-cig and it's users pretty much convinced me how safe it was, and my plans were to start slow with one session per day to monitor my tolerance.

It was a short, slow session, with no effects whatsoever. Had high hopes this would work for me. I thought I was being careful, but allergies can hide it's ugly head and hit you seemingly later out of the blue. Then you have to try to figure out where it came from.

That's what happened. Nothing at point of use; hit me 2 or 3 hours later, like a brick. However, I knew I had nothing nor done any other thing that could have triggered it. It also had the same effects as the horrible experiences with a prescription inhaler for emphsyma. Pretty sure that means it was the propellent used, and it took that long for my body to become toxic and react.

I cannot seem to make the forum understand that professional medical assistance is not my option. What little remains of me, cannot entirely be blamed on cigarette addiction; most of the damage incurred has been from the repeated medical malpractice every time I ask for help. Prove it? Sue? Rarely happens. Way too much is undocumented and covered up.

Is no one aware of the epidemic of "medical errors" in america? This forum is important to get the people together and help each other. Do some research. Then look at the whole picture. Think about the role of the low life scum of the earth smoker! Then come back here, and give every bit of help and encouragement to others you can muster. You may not think a few caring words mean much, but they make a world of difference.

Thank you for your concern!

Well that post explains a lot at least why you are leary of doc. Hopefully you understand nobody here is qualified to give you medical advise or even tell you ecig is safe especially with your med probs, actually we are all taking our risks with this stuff. Snus is simiular to chewing tobacco but processed more, it comes in little pouches that you put between your cheek and gum like chew. Unlike chew it does not have to be spit] out anyways Snus can be bought at places that sell cigs and online with the online stuff being better. I think I would try the stuff sold by the cig stores b4 buying it online and finding I dont like it. Have a great day!

Hay, Brewster; there you are!

My post for you had disappeared; hopefully we can just proceed from here?

eww; don't think I could handle snus, then. For now, have dug out the old Nicotrol puffer to give it a try again. Never liked it (looks, hard draw) but is better than gum, patch or cold turkey.

Please understand, I am not asking people to stick out their neck for illegally practicing medicine. But many experienced laymen have helpful home type tricks that helps ease symptoms of a reaction. rjp44 just suggested antihistamine to ease symptoms. Not a prescription nor professional medical advise, but good common OTC treatment for any allergic reactions. When your heart is racing at 200 bpm and you're fighting to breathe, you really aren't thinking of something you were told to do years ago. Could have been reminded to flush my face with cold water, too. That sometimes helps temporarily to calm down the racing.

I also e-mailed Vicki at Cignot to verify I had used the device properly and there was no defect with the unit. All was ok with that and she acknowledged that such a severe reaction to PG does happen, although it is extremely rare.

I can't stress enough what I came to this forum for. I have tried unsuccessfully to quit smoking for nearly as many years (40) as I have smoked! But I always felt I was the one that did this to me, so I had to be the one to fix it; by myself. Many of you responded to my cry for help, and even if you don't realize it, your concern helped me hang in there until hubby got home.

He was flabberghasted himself in his last attempt to help me; he took me and my ekg's, stress test, halter monitor and blood tests to his heart specialist. (He was heavy smoker till heart attack 5 yrs ago). DR just scanned over the grafts, took a look at me, and said:

"I see you do have quite a problem with your heart, don't you? I can help you, but I won't;
NOT UNTIL AFTER YOU CHANGE THE WAY YOU BELIEVE, AND QUIT SMOKING!"

No matter what any doctor ever tells you, an ambulance is always an option in a medical emergency. No paramedic is going to arrive on the scene of someone in cardiac distress and say "Oh, you smoke? Well call back when you've quit."

Since your symptoms came on hours after you'd tried vaping and they went away without any medical intervention, maybe you what you experienced wasn't really a physical reaction, but a panic attack?

Thanks for feedback, telsie;

NO, NO, & NO.

No matter what the appearance is, what I suffer from is definitely not panic attacks.
Everyone can pound this into my head till I'm dead, but that still don't make it so.
Cause or effect?

My heart is physically damaged from childhood Rheumatic Fever and MANY untreated "mini" heart attacks. The valves are scarred and regurgitate the blood, pooling into the left chamber, ineffectively pumping much of anything. I drop potassium to dangerous levels, and the heart will stop for 3-4 seconds, start with a pre-beat, then race at 180-200 bpm. This happens even in the middle of the night while sound asleep, recorded on a halter monitor. Try 46 of those episodes in a day with nothing to cause it, and, I suppose you could slough it off as panic attacks.

Symptoms are not gone; but slowly recovering.

I have done the emergency route, many times. EMT's are really great, but can only do as told to get you there.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH,..............................

sorry, can't go back there.

See ya later; gotta go have a smoke

Quit smoking, its easy to say but hard to do. I dont know but after the reaction you had, if it was me I wouldn't try the ecig again because you dont know what caused the reaction. I never thought you were trying to make anyone liable the issue is more a responsibility issue, for instance lets say i told you what you suffered was an allergic reaction to pg and you should switch to vg and lets say you did and it killed you. I probably wouldn't be liable but I would sure feel like crap. The fact is I'm not qualified to tell you what happened to you or how you should handel it and neither is anyelse on this site. Hey I just picked up some snus and I like it hopefully between this and the ecig I can quit cigs for good. Good luck in your quest to find something that works for you!

man, deja vu. Feels like I'm reading the infamous Coughing Up Blood thread. its eerie ;)

Haha, I just read that thread, classic forum trolling. Not all that good, but classic. Wonder how far this one will go before someone gets the axe.

I'm new around here, is this sort of thing fairly common?

You know ... I think you're right about the nicotine withdrawal. After first night of chills and headache, that's gone away and I feel alright. Just don't have the inhaling down pat. Vapor hits my throat and I cough. Can't seem to get it past my throat. Do most of you draw it into your lungs or just to the throat and exhale?

My Mom told me she coughed during her entire first cartridge. It wasn't until she popped on the second one that she stopped. It could be higher nic content, flavor, atomizer humectant ... who knows.

As far as inhaling, try to let it roll on your tongue first, before it hits your throat.
