Hold on!! How is it vaping? If it's vaping fine, don't sweat it.
Don't mind how the filler in the carto looks
after you have begun vaping, even after properly priming the carto. It's perfectly normal to "look dry".
Above is a cutaway diagram of a punched cartomizer. Note the red arrows depicting the flow of juice both from the tank and in the carto. Juice gets pulled down when you puff on the carto. The juice from the tank doesn't keep the top of the filler wet, but it doesn't have to. As long as the filler around the heating coil stays wet, you're fine. The tank will keep the lower half of the carto supplied with enough juice to keep the filler from burning.
Having said that, I'm a firm believer you still have to start out with a slushy looking carto during the priming process. This is the most important step with a cartotank setup. It also doesn't hurt to "top off" the carto when you refill the tank. But to repeat, it's normal for the filler to look dry once you have taken a few vapes on the carto.
