The situation:

Big Chuck, with 510 connection (not adapter)
2 Tenergy LifePOH4, 750mAh, RCR123A, 3.0 V batteries
Stock Joye 510 atomizer
TV juice, direct drip on the atty as I normally do

And what is happening is that it runs so hot it's like inhaling BBQ grill smoke.

I love my new Chuck, it's beautiful, but even after reading up I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here although it's obviously something.

Help, please!

I've tried with 2 different attys that work/ed fine on regular Joye 510 batteries.

Somehow I think I've added up the combo of things wrong, doesn't seem like bad attys. Thanks so much for responding and trying to help, this is frustrating!

On edit:

Looks like it could be the mAh number, not that I have any idea whatsoever what that means. I just looked at Jeff's site at recommended accessories and the recommended mAh appears to be different from what I purchased from Battery Junction.

If someone could explain what this means (the difference between 750mAh that I bought and the recommended 3000mAh) I would truly appreciate it!

mAh is Milliamp Hours. It's an estimated battery life in milliamp hours. In the chuck battery thread, Drozd goes over this in detail giving a general longevity timer per battery.

However, 2 750mAh batteries shouldn't be the problem. 3.0v for 6v or the 3.7v for 7.4v either way... the mAh rating is solely for measuring effective life. It seems like your atty source may not be ideal for HV Vaping.. I would recommend a HV atty to base this off of.. since they're more designed to work with 5/6/7.4v vaping situations. If the same comes from using one of those, then I'd worry about the batteries.

Yeah, what Catmommy said. Use a HV atty for a sweet vape at 6V.
How many kittys do you have Catmommy?

I have 3 kitties right now. All rescues. 2 boys who just turned 15 (I lost my 15 year old girl on Christmas) and a little girl who is a year old TODAY! I also have a VERY LOUD 13 yr old Moluccan Cockatoo.

It's so nice to hear you will be rescuing a puppy, Mist.

Way to go on your puppy rescue Mist!! Kisses to all the 'furry babies' of EVERYONE.

I hate animals too. I have a Doberman that's SUPPOSEDLY turning 2 years old on June 22 and a vicious guinea pig named Buttescotch. (Not only is she 'buttery' in color, I'm originally from Glasgow, hence the name..)

Each and every day, the dog gives the guinea pig a thorough bath. Several times. At first, we thought maybe she was just 'tasting' her, but NOPE!! It's a Mommy thing!

Weird, I know.

The rule with cockatoos is that they expect you to play with them for 10 hours, take a 1 hour break and then play with them for another 10 hours. And, if you don't follow those rule, they can be quite vocal in their complaints. (Sometimes I think my conure thinks she's a cockatoo -- except that the conure LOVES baths.)

Poeia, my conure, has to announce that she woke up. Other than that, screaming is confined to when she's over tired and when I try to put her to bed -- she hates being locked up. (She also yells when I leave the room but not at screaming levels.)

Fortunately Annabella, my mini-macaw, is much, much quieter. Poeia can get her wound up when I neglect them by going to the bathroom but the rest of the time she's not loud at all.

Sometimes Poeia makes a high-pitched shriek that goes on so long I wonder that she doesn't run out of air.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
I can't tell her to stop because giving attention reinforces the behavior so I distract her by standing up, going to the kitchen or playing with the blinds. I figured it was a conure sound and there was nothing I could do about it. Then one day, when I was playing with her, I sad "ssssshhhhh" and she replied "EEEEEEEEEE." Apparently I taught her to make that awful sound.

That's amazing Poeia. She's imitating her dad!
Both of our cats are black and white "tuxedo" cats, I named the first one Samuel L. Catson because when we first got him he loved to walk around yelling all the time and if you told him to be quiet he got louder, our downstairs neighbor thought we had a baby!
He doesn't do that as much now, mostly just talks back to me when I talk to him, we hold some funny conversations.
Our other tux cat Lotus is a tiny girl, she's barely over kitten size and is over a year old!
her meow is tiny just like her so it's adorable when she talks to ya, one weird thing she does is she loves water, she plays in the toilet, or the bathtub if you'll just barely turn the water on to a stream.

Guava, why not try the 510 cartos. I like mine at 6V. I've not had such enjoyable vaping with my regular attys. 510 taste burnt fast even at 3.7 and I bought a low resistance one to use at 3.7, it was great for a fuzz and now taste burnt. I am sticking to cartos. If you should fry one up, which I haven't yet, you can toss it and not get all ticked. Under nine bucks for a five pack, I've been using the same one for almost two weeks nonstop.
