So I don't usally smoke but at times I do. For example if I'm drinking ill smoke through a pack in 6 hours but then may not smoke from days to a week or more. If it makes a difference the type of cigarette I buy is exportA full flavor in the green box.

As a healthier alternative I just today purchased a itaste MVP,kanger aerotank and a pack of five coils for it. The itaste mvp comes with a plastic vaporizer but I wanted an all glass and stainless one so I purchased the kanger aerotank ,it also came with a battery a ego twist or something.

The thing is what do all the variables do there's volts and watts on the battery and ohms on the coils do?

I'm also wondering what type of liquid, strength and flavor would be best to replace the export A full flavor cigarettes.

I placed the order today after just hearing about electronic cigarettes yesterday. I think I've done we'll on my choice but ill see when it arrives. I haven't bought any juice yet so I'm wondering what to purchase before the battery and vaporizer arrive.

Hi Icecrew, welcome to the forum!

I'm still fairly new at this, so I'm sure someone that knows more will come along and explain all this better, but here's what I know/have been told:

The volts/watts/ohms things really don't matter. Just set your MPV for the kind of vape you prefer (throat hit, cloud, etc.) and then you really don't have to worry about it. I've got an ItasteVV, rather than an MVP, but I think they both work essentially the same.

As to e-juice, since you aren't a regular smoker, I'd go with the lowest strength of nicotine (or even 0 nicotine) in an e-juice. Since you say you can easily go a week or more without smoking, it sounds like you're lucky in that you haven't become addicted to nicotine.

What flavor? Well, most folks that have smoked and are now trying vaping seem to think -- at first -- that they'll want a flavor of e-juice that most mimics the flavor in their regular cigarettes. And then most disabuse themselves of that notion quite quickly. There really isn't an e-juice that's going to taste exactly like a regular cigarette, and why would you want it anyway with the amazing variety of flavors out there. For most of us, once you've started vaping, the taste of regular cigarette smoke is not the pleasant anyway.

(For me, it's like, why would I want the taste of shredded, burned cow manure in my mouth when I can have white chocolate, raspberry and almond? Why limit myself to eating nothing but brussels sprouts when I can eat dessert all day?)

Hi I was a 2 pack a day smoker so I started out with 24 mg nicotine juice and that worked out really well. You can always lower it later but at 24 I was able to quit comfortably without cravings for cigarettes with that amount of nicotine. As for variable watts and volts it gives you the ability to have a more customized expirence with different flavors. Some flavors might taste better with higher voltage or wattage and some taste better with lower volts. Having a variable voltage device gives you the ability to find that sweet spot in your vape. Their is no right or wrong number it strictly depends on what YOU personally like. What I like, or what someone else likes might not be the same number for you. So with your variable voltage device you will dial it in with each flavor to personalize your expirence. Some vape according to watts like me, some vape according to volts. A ohm is a unit of electrical resistance of a coil. Hope I answered your questions and helped.

Volts and watts will give you more power output and a warmer or cooler vape depending on your mood. If you have a 2 ohm atty then you can set your volts to 4. You just add 2 to whatever your ohms are. I keep forgetting the equation for wattage but it'd be around 8 watts for a 2 ohm atty, I think. You made a great purchase btw and welcome to ECF!!!!

Here's a link to Baditude's guide on ohms/wattage/voltage for dummies. It's very helpful. E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs

Ohms are a measure of resistance, the higher the resistance the lower the temperature of your vape.

People use higher/lower ohm coils depending on what they like, and the only way to find that out is experimenting.

Voltage is a measure of electrical potential, and wattage is a measure of electricity used during a certain amount of time. Higher voltage and/or wattage will likely make your coil hotter.

Here's where it comes together. Using 4 volts across a 2.2 ohm coil will heat it less than a 1.5 ohm coil. A voltage/resitance combination will create a different wattage. A lot of vapers tend to aim for a certain wattage range. This can be calculated, but I can't remember the formula.

The higher wattage the more likely you are to burn your coil.

I started with an eGo knockoff(about 3.7 volts) and a 2.2 ohm coil. I now use a variable voltage pen set at 4.4 volts with a 2.1 ohm coil. I prefer a 1.5 coil but it burns out too fast.

It's all about finding what you like, and you've got a good setup to mess around with.

As for liquid, I started with a juice meant to mimic newports, and after trying different things I now lean towards menthol/fruit blends. I use 24mg nicotine. You might be able to find a local store that let's you try a couple out

Ok I orderd 0,12 and 30 nic levels in candy, tobacco, menthol, fruit and flavorless variants so ill find out what I like. Its all 70/30 pg/vg whatever that is. Anyone have any tips on the first time I use this. Should I wash the vaporizer first?

PG is propylene glycol and vg is vegetable glycerine. They tend to mix it to try and bring out specific attributes in the vape. Basically, VG is thicker so it doesn't flow as well, it tends to mute flavors, but it produces much more vapor than PG which is thinner and transmits flavors better. You'll see it vary from manufacturer to manufacturer from 100% one or the other to any ratio between.

Some people like to wash out new vaporizers to clean any manufacturing chemicals that may be left in them. The only downside to doing it is that you need to give it plenty of time to dry out, because the wicking material will fill up with water, and it won't draw juice properly until all the water is gone. That said you can rinse it out, shake it dry, fill it with juice, and then just hit it and suck on it until it boils off all the water and you start getting vapor, but it's going to feel like sucking slightly steamy air for a little bit.

Pg is propylene glycol, there is no petroleum involved..

It's the all the young trendy hipster vape heads at my local b&m store rubbing off on me I suppose. I'm sure it started out with someone who knew it was glycerin and confusion over the PG abbreviation, now that I think about it. Anyway, no excuses, error corrected, I'll endeavor not to do it again, but I make no promises.

There are a TON of posts on the subject around here, just do a search for aerotank flooding and you'll get a ton of info, usually it's either bad heads, or drawing too hard, or the little atomizer heads having come unscrewed from opening the tank, but I'm sure there is a solution for you here in these forums. Comfort yourself with the knowledge that although aerotanks do this, most of the other options are actually worse about it.
