What are the best batteries to put in my Aegis Geekvape?

I have experienced high power mods with 10A AWT batteries in them (customers units). They don't explode or get excessively hot, what actually happens is the voltage sag is so extreme that the mod either reboots or throws a battery failure error.
Thank goodness for regulated mod safety circuitry.

I wonder what would happen if a noob tried that with an unvented mech mod? I wouldn't want to be nearby.

So my chart is more of a battery suicide prevention plan. I think I get it. o_O

Well put, and yes, I would agree. And I for one are appreciative of your efforts. Well done sir! :thumb:

Thermal Runaway is obtained when a cells internal temperature reaches a certain state. That temperature could be different given the many different chemistries and manufacturing processes - so a base line has to be established to mitigate risk. Mooch has set what he feels is a comfortable base line through his objective measurements. But manufacture recommendations could have been conducted through a different method of measurements. It is difficult to establish a base line when 2 different cells that may have the same specification, but have been measured differently from the manufacture. By using the same testing methodology, we can establish a benchmark. Said benchmark is not necessarily a true indication of real life performance. But, it sets a stage for us to follow so we do not find out the hard way what a 30 amp draw on a 10 amp CDR cell MIGHT achieve.

I don't know but the mech guys have run 0.12 ohm builds on 25Rs for years, I've even seen 0.06 run on a parallel mech with 25Rs. They put those Smurfs through hell. ;)

Oh, I know. I had co-workers doing the same thing with their mechs at the vape shop. With purple Efest batteries, too. You'd think they would know better. I kept them at a good distance from me.

Oh to be young and dumb again.

30 amp draw from a regulated circuit based on a prescribed wattage is the same as a 30 amp draw from a 0.14 ohm coil on a mech. The current draw does not differ, and a regulated circuit, although separates the coil from the battery, is no more safer in this case. Both are still drawing 30 amps!

Not for me, went into a vape shop one time and the guys were all passing around this battery that was too hot to hold. They said "here check this out", I told them that battery needs to be put outside in the back right now! It cooled and never vented, but the neck beard that owned it want to know if it was still safe to use...

Gotta save $10 for more juice... :headbang:

The only difference is when that cheap Chinese spring melts or the switch arcs on the mech. Too hot to handle and no way to shut it off, those good old Cherry Bomber clones.

I would remove the atomizer to break the circuit if I could, but if the battery is already in thermal runaway that wouldn't help much.

If it wasn't too hot, and there was a rag handy to grab it with. Personally I'd toss it outside, don't know how many guys in vape shops I've been in that had to set their mech down as it was getting to warm to hold.

I just step away from them.

I bought 10 of these. They seem to be well balanced and work great.
Samsung 18650 30Q 3000mAh

Samsung 18650 30Q 3000mAh Rechargeable Battery HIGH DRAIN wholesale Free Case! | eBay

You should never purchase batteries from eBay. I’ve assisted a handful of individuals identify fake batteries they purchased on eBay – many of which were counterfeiting Samsung 30Q.

I would find a way to authenticate those cells before continuing to use them – to authenticate they need to be measured for visual inspection is not enough. Counterfeiters are getting very good at visually making their product appear identically to the authentic.

This eBay seller has already received a negative feedback for selling fake batteries.
