My local vape shop guy belongs. He was saying, that there was a run of people on there talking about wanting ELAs. That is why he mentioned the forum to me.

I wonder when the type of people who like high end mods will realize that when a new Super-T is announced there seems to have always been plenty of time to buy one at retail and not have to go looking for one after the fact.

Its funny how the "collectors" tend to be. I chat with a lot of people who do constantly buy. I guess there is a method to their madness . Of all the people I told about the ELA only one actually got one.

Most all the others are now looking or I see come on here asking about the availability.

Only trend I do see it that logos and serial numbers seem to be priority. I understand but really when the numbers are in the thousands, what is so rare about that?:)

There is a specific reason ELA interested has spiked recently. I won't say why here but any hardcore ELA'er probably already knows why..

Personally, I don't know about spikes, other than this one referred to by my vape shop guy. I don't do the classifieds. But, he said, with that particular group, they do not like the ELA button. They like flat bottoms. Someone, made an after-market button for the ELA. Now, they want to get an ELA, and refit it with the after-market button.

True..

The 'old spice' mod is a prime example of this IMHO..

I disagree, the Caravela is actually a pretty bad example of the point I'm making. It's more in line with the current ELA and Super-T phenomenon we're seeing now. The Caravela was available for pre-order for what... over a year? People had plenty of time to get "on board", just like the ELA. Of course, once that last spot was filled, and more people started getting theirs, you had show-offs and speculators trying to drive up the post-market value so they could sell at profit. Nowadays, it's just as popular to be a fanboy of the Caravela as it is to be counterculture anti-fanboy.

A better example of hyped desirability would be something like the Chi-you. That was hyped as the next big thing in a lot of circles and led to quick selling pre-orders and immediately overpriced second hand market Chi-you's. Months later, who still brags about owning one? In a year it will just be a small blip on the 2013 vaping tapestry.

I guess Im all about people getting what makes them happy, but at least for me, the unique design of the Precise line is part of what sets it apart. The market is flooded with a basic design of tube type battery devices. SOme stand apart because of a logo, some stand out because of performance etc.

As we see many are cloned and copied with in days of release. THe reason the ELA has not had a successful clone is because of the unique design and quality. Look at how many pieces are involved in just the button? A flat button is nice, but again, the shape of the Precise line sets it apart and adds to the the style.

These are just my views. Id like to see what they did on the after-market button, if they still managed to keep it in the spirit of "Precise"

Fair enough and I agree with the quote above.

My point was that the statement

That's what happens when you buy things based off of hyped desirability instead of actually buying them off of quality and features.

IMHO the Caravela is mainly hype / hyped desirability from it's owners / want to be owners. There is a reason that most Vela owners quicky toss the button for a Paps one..

Either way, I do agree with your statement!

That 'after market' button is what I believe to the reason for the spike in ELA desire..

I could be wrong with my assumption but I do see many who never wanted an ELA before clambering to get one now..

There were only 500+ ELAs made. Someone took the time to make that after-market button for so few. I think it is actually a compliment. They obviously like the overall greatness of the ELA, but they prefer flat bottoms. So, they altered it accordingly. :)

I think the reason people buy the PAPS button for their Caravela is that the button design is outdated - it's a 2 year old design, and e-cigs have come a long way in 2 years. With that said, the Caravela button is well machined, functional and looks nice. I bought a PAPS button for mine and then sold the PAPS button, mainly because it eliminated the venting designed in the Caravela. To safely use the PAPS button, I'd have to drill a hole in my Caravela tube, which isn't something I was willing to do. It was a nice button, though. I just don't like having an ugly hole drilled into my PV tube.

Ah, well that makes sense. Lotsa people don't like the horizontal nature of a Precise. Lucky me prefers it, when I stand anything up it inevitably goes clonk no matter what. You've seen my videos, I'm a spaz!
