Before I retired and when I used to do public speaking and still smoked - I'd arrive a bit early, walk around smoking my pipe outside the venue, allowing myself to have a dose of Major Stage Fright then visualise myself walking through a curtain confidently ... and it always worked.
In retirement - I pick up my guitar and play slowly and carefully through "Moon River" without the music in front of me as a solo, concentrating on getting every note perfect with the correct fingering ( one note/one fret one finger ) working on the expression of the tune lost in concentration ... and that does the trick for me.
